GreatScott82 Posted November 23, 2005 Share Posted November 23, 2005 Quick question to the Phillies organization (And I hope KW asked the same thing): Why the hell would we trade away the 2nd best defensive CF (Rowand) in the game and the arguably one of the best pitchers in baseball (Contreras) for an ageing slugger with a ridiculous contract? What a joke. I would counter that offer with Joe Borchard and Baj deal. But nobody from out champion roster. Believe me we are much better off w/o Thome then to lose Rowand, BMac, or Contreras. Do you always hit the nail on the head the first time. They are feeling us out seeing how bad we want Thome. They may think that we know we will lose Paul and are desperate. We all know that KW would NEVER do that trade, and Ozzie would kick him in the balls. Its part of making a deal, lowballing and high balling are part of the process. You deal from strength...and what the White Sox have is an extra starter, a lot of young talent in the minors and a LHR. I've learned there is no such thing as a can't miss player. For every one of those, there is a Mike Piazza or Mark Buehrle. Saying low draft choices that end up being great. Trying to find a suitor for Duque would be pretty tough, considering he is going to be making about $5 million next season.
