Brian
ESPN Link A few other places are reporting he will be out by Monday and possibly replaced by Jauron. Matt Millon just keeps getting away with this. I like Mike Williams but that may of been a dumb pick by Detroit when they had bigger needs in last years draft. Time to look in the mirror, Matt. The fact that Detroit ownership hasn't fired HIM yet, shows how much they may or may not care.
Kyyle23
Eventually management will tire of Matt Millens escapades as general manager and the ax will fall on him. I gaurantee you that.
greasywheels121
According to a SC stat this morning, since '01, Millen's got a worst percentage w/ the Lions than the Texans do.
Rex Kickass
With Dick Jauron or Mariucci, the Lions will still stay the Ralph Wiggum of football.
WHarris1
Mariucci>>>>>>>>>Jauron
GoodAsGould
Well since they just gave the same GM a new contract he will be there for awhile. Although they might be firing Marriuchi a little early he was really doing a crap job there anyways.
nitetrain8601
It's the inability of Millen to field a semi-complete team, which will not enable the Lions to compete until he is fired and a competent GM is brought in.
knightni
I heard that Millen won his CBS Sports Fantasy Football League 4 years in a row. Maybe that's why the Ford's hired him.
Guest $I Need Money$
Dick Jauron sucks.
whitesoxfan101
The Lions old and clueless owner loves Millen, that's why he keeps get away with this. As for Jauron......lol.
nitetrain8601
Jauron isn't a bad coach. He just won't turn an unbalanced team into a great one. As far as the Lions go, I think Bill Billichek would be hard pressed to turn them into any type of contender. That's how bad Millen is. GoodAsGould
Hey Dick Jauron wasnt as bad as some people here are making him out to be. That detroit defense isnt the most talented group and he made them pretty good when they were healthy...... I just hope for his sake he finds a new offensive coordinator. Nor was Jerry Manuel a bad manager. Matt Millon is a horrid GM.
Balta1701
If Matt Millen were to draft himself a decent quarterback, would we be having this conversation?
greasywheels121
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) If Matt Millen were to draft himself a decent quarterback, would we be having this conversation? Harrington isn't as bad as advertised, IMO. He's just a great scapegoat.
SoxFan1
Holy s***....for a second I thought the title of the thread was "Mariotti Gone?" I almost had a heart-attack from the excitement!
SSH2005
I guess he's officially fired now: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5117306

AddisonStSox
Bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........ <_> This was the wrong move. Give the guy some actual football players and then get back to me. He did not deserve the ax. Unfortunately, this is the case with professional sports, you can't fire the team, you can fire the coach.
Rex Kickass
Fire the GM, he's the one giving him no tools to work with. It's like handing someone matchsticks and ducttape and asking them to make a piano. It would just never stay in tune.
GoodAsGould
well to be fair Ive watched some Lions games and Mariucci was doing a pretty crappy ass job as far as coaching goes. Although I always believe you give a coach 3 years b4 you fire him unless in the off-season their is a coach you are really interested in and would of hired over the current coach if he was available back than. Punch and Judy Garland
I don't think Mooch is the reason they are losing. Matt Millen inherited a crappy team, but its still a crappy team. The onus should fall on him. Mooch will either get another NFL job next year in Oakland or he'll take a good college job. He's a good coach
Wedge
I disagree. The offense is pretty talented and Mooch hasn't done much with it. He isn't a terribly good coach and there are a number of problems on this team that can be directed back at Mooch. I know a lot of people blame Millen, but there is definitely enough talent on their offense to compete for playoff spot this year.
knightni
Mariucci is a very good co-ordinator and he was a pretty good college coach at Cal. I think he will wait and see if the Packers job opens, if not, then he will take a college job or go work for Holmgren in Seattle.
greasywheels121
Millen better be gone after the year.
