LosMediasBlancas
The Score is asking if Konerko/Thome will be the best back to back (in the line up) Sox players ever.
Kalapse
That puts the Sox' predicted payroll at $87.475 (or $88.475 if he makes $13M next year) for the 2006 season. Thome = $6M Konerko = $12M/$13M

BFirebird
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) The Score is asking if Konerko/Thome will be the best back to back (in the line up) Sox players ever. Even though most would not like to admit it...when Joey Belle was here, he and Thomas were the most prolific in Sox history. Joey had the best single season in SOx history that year. Rowand44
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) That puts the Sox' predicted payroll at $87.475 (or $88.475 if he makes $13M next year) for the 2006 season. Thome = $6M Konerko = $12M/$13M That still allows us some payroll flexibility if needed.

Kalapse
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) That still allows us some payroll flexibility if needed. Very true. A lot of these are predicted numbers though, so the payroll could sway about $2M either way.
The Ginger Kid
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) I don't know who reported that one, but it's a crock of s***. LA times reported it
Dick Allen
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) The Score is asking if Konerko/Thome will be the best back to back (in the line up) Sox players ever. It depends on how they do together. Before they played together and one struggled when the other didn't, Belle and Thomas was pretty impressive. Plus it sounds like we will move Marte (2.5M), and Hermy will likely go the surgery route and miss the year or get traded (3M), so that's more money opened up as well. Kalapse
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) Plus it sounds like we will move Marte (2.5M), and Hermy will likely go the surgery route and miss the year or get traded (3M), so that's more money opened up as well. If Hermy doesn't play next year, we're on the hook for his $3M. He won't be traded, way too much of an injury risk.

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) If Hermy doesn't play next year, we're on the hook for his $3M. He won't be traded, way too much of an injury risk. If he has surgery, insurance pays a big chunk of his salary.
