Punch and Judy Garland
The dollars per year aren't awful given that he will close. BUT-3 years for Flash Gordon? Ishii

SoxFan562004
yeah, i know the ages are way off, but if a team is looking to win the next 1-2 years, I would rather have Flash than Farnsworth, and they're roughly the same deals

White Sox Josh
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) positively. agreed. I like Farnsworth's stuff but Flash has the mentality to close in a big pressure city like philly. He showed it in Chicago and Boston. SnB
The phillies needed him in the worst way, they would have overpaid a ton to get him. I miss flash, he was great for us in 03.

If you haven't read it. BTW I always was a huge flash gordon fan. I used to love watching that nasty curveball. Filthy.

DBAHO
Last year it was starting pitchers. Now the market's gone crazy for relief pitchers. And the White Sox probably have something to do with that. Teams saw the success we were having a good bullpen, and getting someone like Hermanson who had closer experience to a good deal, that would be below market price right now. That won't be happening again.

That, plus you can look up and down the list and see teams that wound up being in much worse shape last year because of their bullpens, and it reads like a "Who's who" of baseball teams. The Braves, the Red Sox, the Yankees.
