Idea with the Garland Situation

With AJ burentt being the best the FA market has to offer, why not try and unload Garland now while his stock is high.. But before we do that have the Sox offer their best 3 year deal, if he rejects then try and trade him at the winter meetings. Persnoally with Azi, wanting him trade and swing a deal that lands Webb here.. I know that is a long shot, but Buy LOW Sell High..

Webb for Garland. Why would Arizona do that, when they have Javier Vazquez demanding to be traded, and would like to acquire MORE pitching.

If Garland is traded to the D-Backs, it's for a hitter.

I think the Sox will get something done with him, but I guess if an offer comes up that they can't refuse then he is definitely expendable.

2005 was his first good year, and that was because of his strong first half. He was 3-6 from August on in the regular season, before starting 15-4. So I would not say that his value is that high. Yes, he was a Cy Young candidate, but that was because of his first half. The Count was 9-1 during that same span, which by many accounts was more important.

You don't trade Jon Garland unless you're getting a top of the rotation starter. Brandon Webb is that but there is no reason at all why Arizona would trade Webb. Burnett is no where near as good as Garland, he's an asshole, and would cost a crap load of money over a lot of years. Try winning another series this year and the Garland situation will sort itself out. I'm not panicking that he turned down the Sox first contract offer, it's all negotiating.
