Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) That wasn't directed at you. I know you're not a Bears homer. I guess that we'll just have to agree to disagree. And no, once I make up my mind about a guy's skillset, I rarely ever get swayed by numbers or anything like that. Based on what I've seen from Nate, I have no reason to believe otherwise. I don't think that he's a Top 75 CB in this league when it comes to coverage, but that's just my opinion based on what I've seen. Two words: Mike Richardson Top 75? C'mon now. hammerhead johnson
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:13 AM) Top 75? C'mon now. Call me crazy, but there have to be around 75 guys in this league who are better in terms of coverage. There have to be. I have a Sporting News Scouting Guide in front of me right now. They have him ranked at #54 on their CB list, although they have Peanut at #22, which is just absurd. Just like everyone else, what they have to say about Vasher is based on his speed and tackling ability. His coverage skills leave a lot to be desired. But hey, I'm willing to drop this now. There's not much else to say, unless you want me to keep reiterating the same thing over and over again. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. So be it. hammerhead johnson
While I pay no attention whatsoever to college football, there have got to be some damn good CBs that'll be available towards the end of the 1st Round. There always are. I brought up the Philadelphia Eagles because they drafted these three players in the first two rounds a few years back IIRC: Lito Shepherd Sheldon Brown Michael Lewis We need some CB depth. I think that we could hit the FA market for a respectable TE. Don't get me wrong, though. I'd love to draft a Shockey, Heap, Miller, Dilger, etc. I just don't trust Angelo to make that pick, and I can't see how anyone could based on his track record. He can't scout offensive players on a collegiate level at all. I'd also like to see them experiment with Tillman at one of the safety slots, because he just doesn't look like a long term solution at CB unless he's covering huge receivers. Dam8610
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) BTw I wouldnt mind if we spent a top pick on a CB but with how late we are going to be in the draft I just dont think we could find someone that will really be better than either Vasher or Tillman.... or even Azumah.... if we could get that kid from Virgina tech Id be all over it. Yeah, you and every other fan of a team that will be picking in the 20+ range. There's no way Jimmy Williams falls that far. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) I would go, Marcedes Lewis, Davis and Leonard Pope, in that order. I doubt Lewis is available, but Davis might be. What can't you love about a 6-3 TE that has 4.4 speed? Blocking skills, which he doesn't have. I think Leonard Pope is the most complete TE in the draft but that's JMO. For a sleeper candidate at TE, look at Joel Klopfstein from Colorado, who'll likely go in the 2nd-3rd.
Punch and Judy Garland
Is Mercedes Lewis the next Tony Gonzalez or Ricky Dudley? His numbers are truly impressing. Sounds like he'll be a top 15 pick with his size and speed
maggsmaggs
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) Is Mercedes Lewis the next Tony Gonzalez or Ricky Dudley? His numbers are truly impressing. Sounds like he'll be a top 15 pick with his size and speed I think he's got the offensive skills to be like Gonzo, but he is not as athletic and as good a blocker. He can be very good, but Tony Gonzalez is a HOF caliber player. You never know, Lewis might be, but it is too say that. He should be a perrenial pro-bowler if he plays to his potential--how many guys do we say that about? There are three top tier TE's this draft, which is good for the Bears.
