so i was looking at my profile and i saw

favorite sox player: frank thomas

i then went to switch him into 'favorite ex-sox player' then thought, "who's gonna fill franks spot?"

so i looked at the white sox roster and realized... no one. i dont have another favorite player. ( I did but it was Rowand...)

what do I do? i cant not have a favorite sox player can i? this is bizarre...

Weird year. My two favorite athletes of all time both leave their respective franchises this year.

Reggie retired from the NBA and the Pacers, and my FAVORITE player seems to be done with the White Sox forever.

I'm bummed, but I'm really not as much as I thought I would be. I'm just grateful that Frank was here for as long as he was. I would have taken it a lot differently, if it happened earlier in his career. I could possibly not be a Sox fan, if he wasn't here for how long he was.

Now I'm a Sox fan for life thanks to Frank Thomas. I really wish we didn't have to see him play elsewhere, but it looks like it's going to have to be that way.

i totally forgot about timo!

i dunno, see MB is up there on my list cuz of his attitude and his tarp sliding and that time he got thrown out and he was giving everyone high fives as he left. love that. AJ rocks cuz of the same sort of things.

but i loved frank cuz he was synonymous with White Sox. we dont have that now. you could try and say Paulie but.. i dont know. maybe it'll become paulie but i think it's something that will just happen over time.

I'm in the same boat, I no longer have one favorite Sox player. All I have are Thomas jerseys. Honestly there's not one single player that I would want to invest a jersey in now that Frank's gone. There isn't one single person who I will go to the park to root for anymore. Although obviously I was always rooting for the Sox to win, when Frank came to bat it was something special for me. We have great SPs and PK and Thome (hopefully) will be great next year, but there isn't that one game-changing, feared hitter in our lineup... somebody who can tear the cover off the ball but still hit for a high average and high OBP. A player that makes opposing pitchers think, "Oh s***, I can't get this guy out." Not only did Frank make pitchers think that but also, "If he hits a line-drive at my head, I may be going to the hospital... for a looong time." There just aren't that many players like that in baseball period. Pujols above all, then Arod, soon Miggy Cabrera, and Vlad (sans playoffs).

I guess we've all been spoiled. I mean, how many times in the history of the game could the White Sox say, yes we have THE best, most feared hitter in the game? Looking back at our history, I'd have to say outside of Frank, it may have NEVER happened. Literally, we could have witnessed THE greatest Sox hitter in our lifetimes, past, present, and future. Griffey was always the prettyboy, but Frank was the one pitchers and opposing managers dreaded. So I guess I may have to eventually lower my standards and buy someone else's jersey. I'm just holding out hope that when the time comes for one of these special players to get a new contract, the Sox will be an interested party like with the Arod dealings.
