Chisoxfn
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Why? Freddy has started atleast 33 games in 6 of the last 7 seasons. Is it because he sweats so much? I'm harsh, but he is the one starter I have the least faith in (outside of our #5 spot). I'm just being picky but he really seemed to tire down the strecth (both this year and the previous year) and I always wonder if he'll get hurt. I realize he is an innings eater though and I hope I'm just being overly picky. And realistically I'm not at all proposing to deal Freddy. Only way I'd deal Freddy is if we were getting a better pitcher in return.
sayitaintso
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) We won a championship with a team built on pitching and defense. To land a guy like Tejada, we would have to downgrade our pitching and defense. No thanks. He needs to stfu and honor his god damn contract. Steve Bartman's my idol
Why should we give up a very good starting pitcher along with other key players/prospects to fill a need that we do not have, SS. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Cuz a player of Tejada's caliber comes along once every 10 years! AnthraxFan93
Cuz a player of Tejada's caliber comes along once every 10 years! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And we won without him.. for once in 88 years.. NO TO TEJADA
KevHead0881
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) Cuz a player of Tejada's caliber comes along once every 10 years! A rotation like ours doesn't come along very often either. Hell, its not a stretch to call our rotation the best in baseball, and possibly the best Sox starting rotation in recent memory. To break that up for a player we don't need would be absolutely rediculous. Nobody is questioning Tejada's ability...just our need for him. AnthraxFan93
So..then why try to improve the team??? :headshake <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How is he improving the team? Downgrade on Defense, for a upgrade in offense..Did you not learn your lesson from 01-04? 4 keys to winning 1. Pitching 2. Defense 3. Speed 4. Timely hitting Please explain how Tejada fits into this mold. 1. WEll this is a no brainer! 2. UUribe is better 3. I take Juan for cheaper alex 4. well tejeada has this.. ANd the score Uribe-2 Tejada -1 And your Winner Edited December 12, 2005 by AnthraxFan93
KevHead0881
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) So..then why try to improve the team??? :headshake Ok, say we trade Freddy and Uribe for Tejada. That leaves the relatively unproven McCarthy and the always durable El Duque (at a young 94 yrs of age) as the 4 and 5 guys next year. Add that to the likelihood that Garland will bolt after '06 (unless the market for solid starters comes down) and our World Series winning pitching staff wouldn't be nearly as appealing. Not to mention that we'd have downgraded defensively with Urive gone. Now I don't pretend to know what will happen in the future and we may never have to worry about the scenario I just mentioned. But all I can do is assure you this...Kenny Williams would not make this trade! Now that we have settled that...
RME JICO
I agree. Tejada is a better hitter than Uribe, but after that he is just average. Uribe is really under-rated at SS, and since he provides exactly what the Sox want at that position, why downgrade other areas to do it. Also, there is the whole economical aspect of this scenario. The Sox cannot handle anymore huge contracts without gutting the nucleus of the team. After winning the WS, all they need to do is address their weaknesses without affecting the strong areas too much. Finally, why would you want someone who wants out when they lose? If the Sox get in a rut and go on a 4-5 game losing streak, is he going to start requesting a trade, or take a couple of games easy like he did last year? September Stats - - - -HR - RBI AVG OBP SLG OPS Tejada 1 - 11 .265 .317 .368 .685 Uribe 7 - 16 .304 .379 .641 1.020 Edited December 12, 2005 by WinninUgly

JUGGERNAUT
Fughedabutit! It's a horribly backloaded contract that pays him an avg of $14M over the next 4 yrs. The White Sox aren't going to touch that.
