Steve Bartman's my idol
I've always been a fan of Jones...do you think he'd be a good addition to the team? How much doyou think he'll sign for?
Punch and Judy Garland
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) I've always been a fan of Jones...do you think he'd be a good addition to the team? How much doyou think he'll sign for? Nowhere to play him. I htink he ends up a Cub or a Cardinal. I think he profiles better in the National League anyways
Ozzie Montana
I dont know. I havent heard anything about the Sox interest in him, but anything could happen between now and spring training but I expect to see Anderson as starting CF on opening day. I'd rather go with Anderson in Center.
The Critic
I don't mind him as a player, although I do have "cockiness" questions about him. I'd prefer to see in-house options exhausted before the Sox look elsewhere for CF help.

Whitewashed in '05
No thanks. I don't think he would be a risk in the clubhouse though. I know MB is pretty cool with him from their time during the Japan series a few years ago. But back on the topic we have enough options from within that will be cheaper and can probably match his production.
elrockinMT
The real question about Jones is do we need him? I don't see the need since we have several young promising candidates internally. You have to also consider money. The Sox payroll is going up and we need any xtra money to sign our own players to longer contracts.

kevin57
A good number of us Sox fans seem real nervous, IMO, overly nervous about CF next year. We toss around one option after another...it seems like anyone BUT Anderson. The organization is saying clearly, and I agree with them, it's time to develop our own talent, and I think BA will do surprisingly well next year, defensively and offensively. Kalapse
I would appreciate it if noone would bring up Jaque Jones' name for the remainder of the offseason. His name has come up quite a few times by people and it's unwarranted. Jaque Jones is not a good ballplayer. We have no use for an overpaid, cocky, .750 OPS OF. Kalapse
Just think about it this way, would you give Carl Everett a multi year deal worth $6M+ per?
DonkeyKongerko
The Everett comparison is probably pretty accurate.

Yeah I'd consider him a younger Carl Everett. Especially with his attitude. Most are in aggreance that we don't need him on this team. chisox2334
rest money going to garland, crede, and persynski for arbitration. Plus, if kenny wants reliever or another utitlity guy he will us money to do that. Plus, look out maybe a trade for some minor leaguers for harris or timo

Rex Kickass
I didn't like his album much.... oh wait, that's Mike Jones. I'll still pass thanks. He can be fun to watch, but unless we can get him for a steal, I'd look elsewhere.

Well yeah, Jones it a few years younger than Everett and basically the same hitter with a little more defense than Everett right now. witesoxfan
You guys must not watch Jacques Jones play on a regular basis. An occasional timely hit( :finger Freddy's no-no), solid defense, inconsistency, and a knack for swinging at curveballs that start at his knees. He's mediocre as hell. Oh believe me, I probably watch Jones as much as any Sox fan around here does. Since I live in the Minnesota viewing area and love to watch baseball, I probably watch 100 Twins games a year or so, wanting them to lose every game, haha. Jones is a very clutch hitter, I will give that to him. But he always tries for the long ball and when he gets it he does the most annoying bat flip I've ever seen.
