AirScott
wow, something like this helps you appreciate the idiocy of Jay Mariotti: " team that hit a major-league-best 242 homers in 2004 has lost four prime power hitters, including Jose Valentin." greg775
I read it before but it again points out how easy a job he has. Flip flop his position 50 times during the season and none of his bosses care. He is a great writer, tho. But I can't respect his flip flopping. he has no perspective. He said the Sox were worst team than Cleveland and chokers. We won it all. So xxxx Jay Mariotti. What a dip.
greg775
One other thing. In the very first item: Want to know is how the Sox plan to win a World Series. Answer: They won't, as long as Reinsdorf and his people own the team. Please sell it. -- You were wrong Jay. Wrong about 40 times in that article. Middle Buffalo
My favorite: "October 4-- I've been trying to tell out-of-towners that Guillen has been a terrific manager." Mariotti = douchebag
LoFiStew
That's the first time I've seen that and it was hilarious. I've always liked Eric Zorn's stuff. Reading that reminds of the Mike Downey's recent flipping and flopping in the Tribune regarding Kyle Orton and the Bears' QB position. I once wrote a sports column for a few years and I always thought the most important thing was to have a true point of view. There's no shame in being wrong, but you really lose the reader's respect when you're just a flippy-floppy windsock like people like Mariotti or Downey. Thanks for the link. greg775
I once wrote a sports column for a few years and I always thought the most important thing was to have a true point of view. There's no shame in being wrong, but you really lose the reader's respect when you're just a flippy-floppy windsock like people like Mariotti or Downey. Good for you. That means you were true to yourself and not a sellout who changes his opinions just so he's got something to write. Unfortunately in this day and age of the talk shows the flip floppers are the successful guys. Cause they take a radical stand on the issue and inflame and most people don't recognize the flip flopping cause they time their columns perfectly so many forget. Texsox
I would love to be able to read our posts here and see how closely they follow Jay's ups and downs. Of course everyone here knew from the start this was a WS team and wasn't choking down the stretch. LOL This team proved a lot of people wrong. Kyyle23
QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) Max Mercy from the Natural = Jay Mariotti I would like Mariotti a little bit(just a little bit) if he could doodle like Max. However, he cant, so I dont.
