You should click on more ads for free porn. Those usually clean up your computer real good. Sorta like a forest fire enriching the soil for next century's aspens.

So you're saying I should click all the "Daisy Does Dallas" and "Have Sex Tonight" ads?

What exactly does disk defragmentation do? ("defragment" is not an acceptable answer)

Then you are out of luck. :)

Defragmentation cleans up your drive by clearing out old data that doesn't really get erased when you delete files. The references to that data are deleted but the data is not scrubbed until you overwrite it with new data or get it off of your drive by defragmenting the drive. All the old orphaned data is scrubbed and your drive blocks reallocated ro make the freed up space useable.

reorganizes the clusters in your hard drive. When your computer adds or deletes information from the HD, it's not a clean and organized thing like parking cars in a parking lot. Eventually things get messy and congested and reorganizing things speeds up the recall of programs and files.

I see. So are there any other ways to get my computer to work faster?

memory upgrade. remove all the programs from your start up menu. defrag. purge all temp files. buy a new computer. run adaware program.

that's a short list.

There are some solid suggestions here... also make sure you are clean on adware/spyware/viruses. Also you could go through and delete any games/programs that you haven't used for a year or so.

you also may want to try singing this song to your computer:

See the sunlight through the pine

Taste the warm of winter wine

Dream of softly falling snow

Winter skol, Aspenglow

As the winter days unfold

Hearts grow warmer with the cold

Memories that can't grow old

Winter skol, aspenglow.

Aspen is the life to live

See how much there is to give

See how strongly you believe

See how much you may receive

See the sunlight through the pine

Taste the warm of winter wine

Dream of softly falling snow

Winter skol, Aspenglow

As the winter days unfold

Hearts grow warmer with the cold,

Memories that can't grow old

Winter skol, Aspenglow....Aspenglow.

There goes my theory about Macs.

Running Virex (free thru ISU) and it's run into 2 trojans.

No system is secure out of the box.

But it also doesnt help that you are at school. Universities are open warefare from a malware/security point.

But are they really trojans that can activate and cause trouble on the mac or are they PC executables that the Virex program happens to note are there but are not endangering your computer?
