rowand's rowdies
First, here is what I have put together so far as of what the final trade looks like: Arizona gets : El Duque, Vizcaino, Young Sox get: Vasquez, 8 mil over 2 yrs (which makes him a 7.5 mil a yr pitcher) If that is 100% correct, which i am not sure of completely yet, we won big time. Vasquez (the 2nd Expo great pitcher we have picked up) is def worth 7.5 mil a yr for the next 2 yrs. I would like anyone who knows baseball at all to disagree with that. Second, we gave up El Duque, who we do not need, along with his 4.5 mil this year. Amazing we could even do that! Then we lose Viz, who is replaced by McCarthy. LEt's not forget how crucial it was to bring Buehrle in slowly in the pen. Then we lose Young, which might hurt, but not now. Owens, Sweeney, and Anderson will do. Plus, AROW is a free agent after 2007! We traded a good young prospect to the other league from a depth position? Nothing wrong with that. Better than Fields (2nd in live at 3rd) or McCarthy. Now I say hold on to Garland, unless something drastic can be done. Let him walk if he wants after this yr, then promote Cotts. He will be a #2 or #3 starter for a long time. Tejada and Crawford would be nice, but not neccasary by any means. I know this is hard to think of doing, but how bout we let our minor league pitchers fight it out for that last bullpen spot? Politte, Hermy, Jenks, COtts, McCarthy, ?. Ask fans of 2/3 of the other teams and they will tell you it happens a lot. Prospects in the White Sox organazation just never get very many chances. I can deal with our 6th bullpen man being a rook. Now let's look at $. Vasquez for 2006 (if details are correct) - $7.5 mil El Duque, Viz for 2006 - At least $6 mil, if Viz gets 10% raise in arb. So we added $1.5 mil to our salary in 2006. BIG DEAL. We got a potential #2 when he is on, when he is off, he's no worse than an average #4. BE HAPPY SOX FANS!!!! RockRaines
I think one of the main things we need to do is think of teams that really need starting pitching, and what we could use from them.
tonyho7476
I don't McCArthy coming out of the bullpen...that boy is ready. Garland's going I think. Kenny will figure it out...he's got a plan.
CanOfCorn
Don't forget, we have two pitchers going in the World Baseball Classic. I wouldn't trade B-Mac just yet. Use Garland or Contreras as trade bait come july 31st (or June 1st if you're Kenny). Depth at pitcher is a good thing to have.

GreatScott82
KW loves the fact of having a 6th starter for insurance reasons. All BMac does is replace El-duque's spot in the bullpen for a year. He will spot start when needed and come 2007- he will be one of our ACEs. I don't see Garland being traded- unless its for an impact type player such as Tejada or Crawford. I doubt we get Tejada- KW loves the Crede/Uribe connection on the left side of the infield- they are cheap and are awesome defensively. Crawford on the other hand makes sense- since TB has many solid OFers in there system they will want starting pitching galore for him. Can we see a possible 3-way deal for him?? With KW you never know. Garland to Baltamore, pitching prospects from Baltamore and us to TB, Crawford to the Sox. I love speculating this time of year. Sure it's just speculation at this point. But it's being speculated because it makes sense. Just like several around here speculated that Rowand would probably be traded because he was a tradable commodity with an adequate replacement. Of course, he was first member of the team to leave via trade.
