SSH2005
When has this ever worked <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, it hasn't. I know it's a tough thing to quantify but I heard on the radio that almost every team that tries to keep their World Series team intact fails to repeat the next season. Kalapse
QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) could you please explain the REASONS that this doesnt work? Do you seriously want to see Everett batting 3rd for the Sox in '06 and El Duque as our 5th starter. Just because you can't watch your Sox DVD and watch current players on the team? SSH2005
could you please explain the REASONS that this doesnt work? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do you really think the ball will bounce our way in 2006 like it did all of last season? I know we were a really good team but damn, we seemed to get all the breaks last year. Kenny improved our offense this offseason because it really wasn't all that good last year. He traded for Vazquez as protection for Garland leaving after 2006. Edited December 15, 2005 by SSH2005

If every team around you stayed the same, then, yes, bringing back the same team would make sense. But, and I know this is hard to fathom, we are the top dog now. The road to the championship now goes through Chicago. Damn that sounds nice. Anyway, you have other's out there that will try, and in come cases already have, upgrade with the idea of knocking off the White Sox. This is especially the case with AL teams. So you always have to try and get better if possible. Edited December 15, 2005 by Jordan4life_2005
rcpweiner
This topic kind of reminds me of what's great about the Internet. Before Al Gore invented it in his garage, there'd be no possible way for idiots like this to get out their entire complete-bulls*** point of view. After the first few sentences, once seeing where this rant was going, any reasonable individuals near them would either: (1) drown them out by mentally picturing the latest vagina they saw; (2) laugh hysterically midway through, thinking the rant was a joke, but, upon seeing he's serious, consider his options to get new friends; (3) stop him with a punch to the throat; (4) shake your head back and forth, wave a finger, and shout out "Oh no, you di'nt!" Thank God for the Internet. Without it, you would continually be questioning yourself if you were smarter than the average person. With it, you're still not sure if you're smarter than the average, but you know you're smarter than some. Steve9347
QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Er.. I don't think you've read anything I've posted. I think that the Rowand trade was fine, and I was fine with trading Rowand for Thome. The only reason I had any problem at all with that trade was because we gave up two top lefty prospects, but I was still fine with the trade, despite overpaying. And I think that what TLAK is trying to say is that he knows that Kenny is trying to make this team better, but its still a sensitive thing ripping apart the team that brought a championship to this city for the first time since 1917. In this sense, I agree with it. Its a pretty dick thing to start trading away a fifth of the team after they won a championship. It might be a smart thing to do for the team in 2006, which it is in this case (with the exception of Vazquez unless Garland is traded IMO), but its still quite hard to see these players leave. all i hear is, "i love rowand, and i hate the white sox!" haha. i think we've made some damn good moves, and you're entitled to your opinions, but i do think you're a little too negative about these moves. SoxFan1
QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) I don't know who this Brandofan is. But here's some more from me. Don't mean to hawk my other writing, just don't want to be mistaken for someone who likes Brando. Funniest. Guy. Ever. From one lifetime Sox fan to another: SOX WIN! I've been waiting my whole life for this! They did it, and you called it! —Dylan Smith Consider this an electronic high-five right back at ya, Dylan. Unfortunately, since I have no aim, we ended up banging our wrists together, slapping little actual hand skin in the high-five process. After standing there awkwardly for a few moments, we decided to redo the high-five and, on the second try, nailed it. Then, you somehow turned the high-five into a handshake. Which I'm OK with. But afterward you stepped over the boundaries by deftly swinging your wrist into the start of the Three-Step Shake. Before I knew it, we were already past the Upward Tight Handgrasp and halfway through the Faux Thumbwrestle. By that time, luckily, I came to my senses and withdrew before participating in the Punching It In Conclusion. You're a sly one, Dylan Smith. But not sly enough. valponick
I didn't read through the entire thread but this is my .02. I think most people on this board who don't like the things that KW has done can be understood but they are looking at things the wrong way. You have to ask yourself if we hadn't won the WS would these trades make you as angry?? Most likely not, because you would see that the team has improved greatly during this offseason. You would be excited about the prospect of going into next year and seeing what this team could do. You can't stay focused on last year, it was great and we are the champs until someone takes that away, but you have to keep your focus on winning it again, if you don't then you aren't much of a champion at all. That being said, does anyone honestly believe if we had done nothing but resign Konerko this offseason that we would win it all again? Sure there is a chance, but doing the things that KW has done this offseason has given us a much better chance. It's hard to see your favorite players go, it was hard for alot of people last year to lose Lee and Ordonez, but as fans if you want the trophy in your city this is what you have to trade for it. whitesoxfan101
I only have one thing to say about this thread. The man who started it is completely insane, as is anybody who agrees with him. Kenny is making this team A LOT better. Kenny KNOW a lot of luck, fate, and overcoming shortcomings is how we won last year....so he's making us better instead of resting on his laurels. And if you are dumb enough to not get that, go root for the Cubs. They will continue to be afraid to be daring, and therefore continue to lose. Have a nice day!
