S720
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) So are you guys saying you wouldn't do Blalock, Wilkerson and Danks or Diamond for Garland and Crede? I hate giving up Crede, but if Crede's back is going to be an issue, I'd make the move. I think Blalock has a heck of a lot of talent, but he has definately struggled as of late. What the HELL you guys are drinking? Give me a pen, and let me know where to sign. I'll sign the damn deal IMMEDIATELY. Garland & Crede for Blalock, Wilkerson and Danks - IN A HEARTBEAT! spiderman
What is wrong with keeping the extra starting pitcher, thus having McCarthy in the bullpen, and going with that ? Our starters pitched a lot of innings last season so I do like having the insurance we currently have. If Garland decides to leave after next season, that's money we have available, since he is expected to get 7-8 million in arbitration. Gene Honda Civic
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Bingo. I was looking around baseball last night for quite some time and Omar Minaya seems like a VERY possible suitor. Finding himself in a Win-Now mode, Minaya might be willing to sacrifice a bit of the farm and some bullpen arms to land a pitcher the calibur of Jon Garland. Milledge would undoubtedly be considered the CF of the future, making Chris Young's departure rather insignificant. I'd be very suprised if the Mets weren't a-calling. I'll say this... The D'Backs obviously liked Young over Milledge. Benson > El Duque + Viz Though I suppose from the D'backs perspective, they prefer Duque and Viz because they're guaranteed about $8M less than Benson and only require a 1 year comittment. Well, I don't think it's quite as obvious for the reasons you gave in the latter part of the post. We can's possibly know if they--the D'Backs--preferred Young over Milledge. Actually, from all I've read, I've got great reason to believe Milledge is the better of the two prospects--difference being, Young has the power numbers. Milledge makes a whole lot of sense to me as does a combination of Wilkerson and Danks/Diamond. The organization seems to have a working relationship with the Danks family and Wilkerson is a prototypical-Williams type player--although he really has shown anything goes as of late--and Danks and Diamond both project to be front-of-the-rotation pitchers. Keep Crede and Blalock out of it. That situation is a mess.

White Sox Josh
QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Ah well. He's a good kid Steff, but he is a typical young fan ... gets attached to certain players, posts and then flip flops two weeks later etc. No biggie. I actually hated Garland a couple years ago for the same reason a lot of people would but this pitching staff. Man I don't know. Hopefully they can works something out for Garland. Now if it was for Tejada that would be a pretty good trade.
Rowand44
QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) KW NEEDS to trade Garland and Crede now. The best trading partner is probably Texas. They have Blalock, Wilkerson and some good pitching prospects. There is a good chance that a deal could be worked out here. Crede is not a fa after this season so I don't understand why we have to trade him, in your words. nitetrain8601
No need in trading Crede for Blalock. Crede won't be a FA after the year anyway. Plus I rather keep the more clutch player. I'd trade Garland for Danks and try to get Frankie Francisco in the process. This team has no other need for another OF. We have Macowiak and Ozuna just in case Crede does go down. With Frankie, we get a solid bullpen arm and we get a top pitching prospect for Garland. If you're going to trade Crede, try to package him with Garland and get Eric Chavez. nitetrain8601
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) I want to say first that I love the idea of Tracey coming out of the bullpen. I don't think much of him as a starting pitching propsect but I think he can be damn solid out of the pen especially being the last guy out of the pen to replace Viz. Yeah, I don't know about him as a starter. When most scouting websites say he could be either/or, that means he'll be better off in the bullpen. His arm would be Neal Cotts from the right side. Ha, that's the exact same comparison I thought of. He's got a better fastball in terms of mph but his motion is one where his fastball would sneak up there on hitters. Think of all the medical advertising opportunities. Maybe he'll come up and play in Game 7 of the ALCS with a bloody shoulder and back and crank one out of the ballpark and well invade Fenway and talk about it 500 times for each time we see him on the field. And Frankie Francisco only throws chairs at opposing teams fans. He seems like the Ozzie type.
