sox4lifeinPA
Hey guys, I've got a question. I've been working at Blockbuster part time (for the 5 movies a week.) and I'm cutting ties so I don't have the extra w2 for '06 tax year. My question: If I work Dec 26, but get paid on Jan 6th 2006, what tax year will I put that under? if it's 06, I'm not working. if it's '05, then we're good. It's pay date, not service date.

It's the year the taxes are paid by the employer, which is the check date.

The only way it would be 05 is if the check was ready for you to pick up in 05, but you just let it sit there and didn't pick it up till 06. sox4lifeinPA
is there big consequences for me not to file that w2 in '07? I mean, it's like 30 bucks which is ~5 bucks in taxes paid.
Iwritecode
I swear I just read a story not too long ago about somebody being arrested over around $30 in unpaid taxes...

I'm sure $30 is under that level. However you would probably be due a refund on any Federal Income Tax withheld so you would have to file a return to get that back! sox4lifeinPA
George Bush is so lame. Why do I have to pay taxes on 30 bucks??? I think Hillary Clinton will do a much better job in the white house.... I mean she's a girl, so maybe at least they can think up a better color scheme...white? seriously? after labor day??!?! PASHAAAAAAAAW!
Chisoxrd5
Dude, its not that hard to attach a W-2 to your tax return and add up the sum of your two w-2's. Most likely your being over withheld anyway and it is to your benefit to include it on your return.
