PETERSBURG, FL -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays acquired veteran catcher Josh Paul from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for minor league infielder Travis Schlichting, it was announced today by Rays Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman. Paul, 30, is a career .251 hitter with eight home runs and 56 RBI in 228 major league games over seven seasons with the White Sox (second round pick in 1996), Cubs and Angels. He appeared in 34 games last season for Los Angeles, as well as two games in the postseason. Schlichting, 21, was the Rays' fourth round selection in 2003. He spent last season with Single-A Southwest Michigan batting .252 in 111 games with three home runs, 39 RBI and 13 stolen bases. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
