Thome to report with Pitcher/Catchers

I thought this tidbt was interesting:

The Sox are expected to receive permission from Major League Baseball to allow Thome to report with the pitchers and catchers for spring training. Thome is recovering from elbow and lower back injuries.

So we will get to see how Thome is doing in terms of recovery a lot sooner, which is great news.

The way I think of it is the earlier he's there, the more time he spends with Greg Walker. The more time he spends with Greg Walker, the worse off he is IMHO.

Didn't think of it that way. I dunno, as long as he works on getting back in shape and getting down with the signs and what not, he should be fine.

Walker's not going to touch Thome's swing. No hitting coach is going to tell a future hall of famer how to swing the bat. He'll try to assist him. That's all.

Walker has touched everyone's swing so they become dead pull-hitters. I think that's a major reason why A-Row's production went down last year.

Uh, Walker was the hitting coach in '04 as well. I think '04 was more of an abberation for A-Row. I doubt his decline offensively had much to do with Walker.

In '04 Walker wasn't trying to get guys to just pull the ball. Last year he was which is a main reason why most of our guys couldn't hit a slider low and away if you gave them a 50 foot bat. He also tried to get Arow to hit for more power which backfired.

And you know exactly what he did how?
