Brian
Read Eric Byrnes was non-tendered. I'd take him off our bench in a second.
fathom
QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) Read Eric Byrnes was non-tendered. I'd take him off our bench in a second. Even though he'd actually be a perfect fit, I'm sure he'll get some nice money to be a possible starter for another team.

Byrnes rakes lefties while Jones sucks against them. Too bad the Cubs are too stupid to do something like this. Instead, they will let Jones flail away at lefties. Byrnes defense in RF would be comical. He's the most overrated fielder in baseball. However, I had the same thought that you did, and I could see the Cubs going after him. Byrnes makes insane diving plays only because he has to because he gets horrible jumps. Then ESPN lauds him for being such a stellar defender. southsideirish71
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) BTW, Felix Diaz was non-tendered as well. Please a moment of silence for Mr. Diaz
Chisoxfn
I hope Willie is back. He's a better player than a lot of you think. I would probably take Willie over Gload simply because we know Ozzie likes speed. The second the Sox got Makoviak, I think Gloads days in this org were done (imo). Byrnes wouldn't be bad (I happen to like the guy). I think he's pretty solid all around, but IIRC he had a rough 05. Still I think someone will give him pretty decent money. Also, when did Byrnes move to RF? I remember with the A's the guy was always in left.

The Cardinals have nothing good at second base right now (Aaron Miles ). Byrnes has played 320 games in LF, 134 games in CF, and 65 games in RF. He can play every outfield position, albeit poorly. He makes diving webgems because he usually gets horrible jumps.

I suggest that you change your avatar to Santana of the Twins, your name to IlovePronk, and have a sig pic of Maggs, Mauer, and Nathan. Pretty much we win 120 games then and the AL central is locked up for 10 years. Edited December 21, 2005 by southsideirish71

Chisoxfn
I'm confused, did he or didn't he get non-tendered? One article says one thing, the other says another.

chisoxfan14
Both Harris and Perez could re-sign with the White Sox at an adjusted salary, while Diaz and Adkins could be signed to Minor League deals. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws see what that says... Chisoxfn
Non-tendered so we can still negotiate with them. They just wouldn't be able to take the pay cuts the Sox wanted if they were to actually go to arbitration with them (IIRC). I think there is a shot we still see one of them back. They could only ask for a pay cut from Timo, as the other 3 are making the minimum. Please, no more.

3E8
This thread has forced me to bring back my famous chart which clearly proves Timo was merely a victim to lack of playing time. Are these results just a coincidence? To me the answer is obvious, but I'll let you be the judge.
greg775
Before everyone gives Willie the boot outta town, just remember he started the White Sox 9th with a hit in game 4 of the WS and scored the winning run. Love him or hate him, he will ALWAYS be remembered for that... Exactly. I forever thank Willie for that. And Ozzie for going with him.
