Mr. Showtime
Good deal for the Yanks to get him for 4 years. Sadly Damon can't throw that well.
aboz56
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) Good deal for the Yanks to get him for 4 years. Sadly Damon can't throw that well. Sadly they won't touch us unless they shore up their mediocre pitching staff.

ChWRoCk2
Well now that the Red Sox are falling apart does this mean that its going to be a Toronto and Yankees division if so that would be nice, Red Sox havent gained much and seems like they are falling apart. SSH2005
Don't forget they have their cy young candidate Josh Beckett and perennial all-star Mike Lowell. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And don't forget how good Tony Graffanino is and how a ton of teams would want him as their starting second baseman. Even though the Red Sox only offered him arbitration to get the draft pick and Graffanino accepted it because no other team felt like paying him as a starter. Punch and Judy Garland
They went 12 million over Boston with the Dodgers out of the bidding. Unless the Orioles came in with a 4 year/48, I don't get why they went so much over Bostons 4/
Pierzynski 12
NY overpays again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same old news with the Yankees, but it's a good signing.

THEWOOD
This trade just shows that the players could careless about rivalries...all that matters to them is the MONEY!
bjm676
The funniest thing out of all of this is that Johnny Boy has to cut his long flowing hair and beard as per The Boss' rules. Moving from Fenway Park to Yankee Stadium will mean a change of style and scenery for the long-haired, bearded Damon - New York owner George Steinbrenner has rules governing the length of hair and bans beards. SoxFan562004
Good signing, good upgrade over what they had last year, $$$ doesn't mean much to the Yankees, they had to overpay to get him, I'm sure the NYY fans aren't complaining about it. Someone else made the point, but when I heard it one of my initial reactions was this was probably well received in Toronto. Boston is in a lot of trouble now, it will be interesting to see what they do. What's the Yankees starting rotation? I thought they took a step back in their pen when they basically swapped Farnsworth for Gordon.
fathom
Not surprised at all that Damon picked the Yankees. He's not exactly a good guy off the field, from everything I've heard. The NY media will have a field day with his personal life.
