lemon44
KW should pick up W.Miller and let him heal this year and he could be in the starting roation next year.Miller can be insurance if The Count and Garland both want to test FA next year. bulokis
Byrnes would be a good pick up specially if Anderson struggles. Maybe Dye can recruit him to us.
elrockinMT
We don't need to sign any stinkin players... especially for the OF where Borchard will be the 4th man. Edited December 22, 2005 by elrockinMT
southsideirish
QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) What about Byrnes as a replacement for Perez, and Bradford as a replacement for Viz if the price is right? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So the Rays just got Burroughs for absolutely nothing? Interesting. The Padres would want to be rid of Burroughs that badly?

Soxfest
Olivo has fallen of the earth, S.Camp could be a cheap good arm in pen.W.Miller worth a flyer.
joeynach
Bradford, Fogg, and Camp I could all see signing minor league contracts. All have potential to be servicable out of our pen. Some work with coop can rescue anyone.

Except wasn't the big knock on Olivo that he sucked at calling games? Everyone wanted to throw to Alomar instead of him. Perhaps if AJ gave him some pointers, but Widger is the man. Milkman delivers
There's a reason Olivo was on 14 teams in 2 seasons. It's because he sucks a whole hell of a lot. Nobody wants him, and we have Widger. That guy can actually call a game.

Padres liked him I thought but idonno he wanted some more money or something I guess. He is a nice backup C just when used as a starter :puke
Milkman delivers
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) 14 teams?? He sucked in seattle thats why he was cut plain and simple.... Padres liked him I thought but idonno he wanted some more money or something I guess. He is a nice backup C just when used as a starter :puke I was clearly joking with the number 14. You knew that. Olivo was replaced by Doug Mirabelli, a back-up catcher for which the Padres traded their starting 2B. I honestly doubt they thought highly of him. Then, he gets picked up by a team that is in complete rebuilding mode that would take just about any cheap player that can clog a hole for a couple years. When their next catching prospect is ready, Olivo will be out on his ass again hoping to sign with another rebuilding team.
YASNY
I'd take Widger over Olivo for 2006 in a heartbeat. There's a reason Olivo has gone from Chicago to Seattle to San Diego to Florida in just a couple of seasons. He has a cannon hanging from shoulder, but there is something missing. No, he would make a horrible platoon partner. He can't call a game, he's got a gun but he can't catch the damn ball. Widger is so much better then Olivo it's not even funny, and I love Miguel. Buehrle>Wood
Widger is the single greatest catcher of all time. Accept this and move on. He aint being touched.
