SSH2005
http://chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=13184 LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Middle linebacker Brian Urlacher will lead a brigade of six Bears to the Pro Bowl, the team's largest contingent since sending six players following the 1990 season. Five of the Pro Bowlers play on the Bears' No. 1-ranked defense. While Urlacher will make his fifth trip in six NFL seasons, safety Mike Brown, cornerback Nathan Vasher, linebacker Lance Briggs and defensive tackle Tommie Harris are being honored for the first time. Brian Urlacher will make his fifth trip to the Pro Bowl in six NFL seasons. The Bears offense will be represented by center Olin Kreutz, a Hawaii native who will be making his fifth straight Pro Bowl appearance in his home state. The five defensive players are the most the Bears have sent to the Pro Bowl since the 1985 Super Bowl season when Richard Dent, Dan Hampton, Mike Singletary, Otis Wilson and Dave Duerson were honored. WHarris1
What about Ayanbadejo? Also it is awesome seeing the defense get the love it deserves, especially a guy like Tommie Harris who could be easily overlooked.

RibbieRubarb
Brown and Ogunleye didn't have enough sacks to warrant interest, I guess. Maybe when the expected players decide not to show, they'll get picked for reserve.
qwerty
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Gotten jobbed in past years maybe? Doesn't mean he should have made it this year. All star games suck in every sport and mostly football because the season is over with.

ZoomSlowik
Seems a bit wierd that Brown goes but not Ogunleye (he of the 10 sacks, which is usually all that matters). One thing to remember though is that voting occurred a while ago, probably a lot of votes coming before Brown got hurt.

Fan voting ended a few days ago and Dawkins had more votes then Brown and Ayanbadejo was leading for ST.

Controlled Chaos
Ayanbadejo should have been in and I think Alex Brown as well. He is a f***in menace...I love watching him play and I think he is a better overall player than Ogunleye...
SoxFan1
When do they announce the starters? I am guessing Vasher, Urlacher, and Kreutz will be starters. Possibly Briggs but I doubt that.

Chisoxfn
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Dawkins? Williams? Roy Williams f***ing sucks. Most overhyped and over-rated player in the league. The guy can't cover s***. He can hit and boy can he hit, but he's not a great safety. Just ask Dbaho (well if he'll ignore his homerisms). He gets reamed in coverage all the time. Small example was the pathetic job he did in the Washington game earlier in the year where he got burned on consecutive bombs for TD's on plays that were his responsibility. WHarris1
Dawkins and Brown don't even play the same position and Dawkins didn't make the team. Hmm.

SoxFan1
I was throwing out names because I am not sure ofthe roster. Perhaps Brown made it because of the lack of talent at safety in the NFC. Anyone think Chris Harris would have been a Pro-Bowler if he started since day 1 and never got hurt?

Brown made it because he's a very good all around safety, which also happens to be one of the key positions of the cover 2 defense that we run. Sure part of the reason he got in is because he plays on the leagues top defensive unit, but at the same time he's a large part of the reason our defense rocks. Brown plays the run about as good as any safety in the league and is pretty good at coverage. He also has the knack for the big play and rarely is outsmarted. He always takes good angles and aside from one game, he wraps his guys up when he gets them in site. Brown isn't a sexy player, but he's about as good of an all around safety as there is in this league.

Brown will always be rememberd for the 2 greatest plays of the 2001 season in back-to-back weeks against SF and Claveland. I will NEVER forget that. But for this season, I will definitely remember his shot on Marcus Pollard. WOW!
