we dont know if that was really his myspace acct or if someone else made it up.  But it looks to be originated a little while ago meaning they didnt make it after his death.

That's why I used the "if" when I said it. It could be made up, but this guy sucks (or sucked rather) if he actually wrote that.

According to his myspace, he was on atleast some sort of drugs, so Rock wasn't totally out of line. What that has to do with his suicide is another story.

It's kind of sad to see his myspace and how people who commented this morning didn't know he was dead yet. :(

I woke up and heard this on ESPNradio. This is such a sad story. His son, 18, was pronounced dead earlier this morning. Tony went from being on top of the world last week to being absolutely crushed and at the bottom of the world. Needless to say he left the team and went to Florida.

This is a terrible occurance. My prayers go out to the Dungy family.

Horrible news. Tony Dungy is such a great and classy coach. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

His son obviously had no class:

"Heroes: the D.C. Snipers, cause they let ya'll crackas kno tha ya'll aren't carzy race in the world"

That is off is website.

Not that class makes you deserve death any more/less.

I hope to hell that page isn't his sons page. If it is, I hate to say it, but i feel a whole lot less sad. I just feel for his family that lost him, but looking at that site, the guy looks like a 1st class prick.

Yeah that can't be his page, can it? 12 friends? You would think he would have more than that and how can Dungy's son be like that?

Seems a lot like it.

Unless there is another James Dungy, age 18, in Florida.

But you are right how the hell is that Dungy's son.

How can his son be SO much different than his father.  No one is always like their dad or hell really want to be like their dad.  But this kid looks like he is 100% opposite of everything that Tony Dungy is.

Tony on the road a lot could have something to do with that.

I didn't mean anything by it, I'm just saying that could be a reason he's not like Tony is because they werent with each other a lot.

At the same time he has a complete off-season when he is home 24/7 or at least most of the time. And usually coaches let their children travel with them sometimes... im sure he saw a lot of his dad.

And how so?  Speculating on the cause of death vs debating the parenting practices by Tony Dungy.    Pretty weak.

Uh, ok.

Well, you got the exact reaction that you wanted considering how all of the previous posts were offering condolences.

There's always a chance of it being fake, but the pictures are legit, as I remember Dungy and family doing a 'Happy Holidays' commercial during Christmas last year, and he just looked dejected like he was forced to be there, and had on the bandana and stuff. I made a mental note at the time of how much a polar opposite he seemed to his dad, so that page may be legit. I'm hoping he was kidding in more of it though, like the DC sniper thing.

Even he did have issues though, I still feel bad for Tony, as he came off as a completely geniunely nice guy from everything that I've seen about him. Timing and the fact that it happened is very sad.

That I wanted? Yeah people love to be called classless. That was also before there were others who came on this message board and decided that a discussion about the cause of death was warranted. Because it is. People die, and although its hurtful to people close to the death, we all question why and how. Its human nature.

Sad incident--18 year olds usually don't drop dead. Likely, he died from one of the following: murder, suicide, drug/alcohol overdose.

I'm trying to recall where I heard information regarding Dungy's son prior to his death. I don't know if it's another story creeping into my mind, but I recall something concerning his son on ESPN.

Exactly. College kids face a number of stressful situations, whether it is social, economical, or even family related, many college kids contemplate taking their own lives or even escape into drugs or alcohol. Its too bad that many of these kids dont have a place to go to talk to someone who will listen and not judge.

That is completely true. It's really amazing too, something as simple as 1 or 2 new friends that care about you can turn you from escaping into the bad things, and instead get you back on track, which makes these sort of things even sadder.

The interesting (and VERY sad) thing about this is.....if that really is the kid's myspace (probably is) and if he did indeed commit suicide as it's being reported, it brings up a whole mess of touchy issues into the national spotlight. Teen depression, teen suicide, the fact that myspace and other blogs are the best way to find out how a young person really feels. Be interesting to see how this story is reported as time goes on.
