DBAHO
Yeah I know he still ain't with us, but what do you think will happen to Chris Young in 2006? Where will he start, in CF for the D-Backs, in AAA or in AA? And what type of numbers will he put up wherever he's playing?
Jordan4life_2007
I don't think there's anyway in hell he starts off in double a. There's nothing for him to prove there. I think he'll probably start off in triple a. If he has a monster spring training, he could start the season in cf for the D-backs, especially since they couldn't land Lofton. As far as his numbers? I'll say around .250ish with possible double digit hr's and a decent rbi total. That, of course, depending on how many games he actually plays for Arizona. I know this is very selfish of me. But I kinda hope he flops. lol. It will take all the sting out of losing him.
DBAHO
If they sign Jeff DaVanon, I'd say Young will definitely start the year in AAA as well. But if they don't, I could see him starting as they've said Luis Terrero will be a bench player and Shawn Green won't be in CF again. Frankly I think that's a mistake though as I'd have Green in CF and Quentin in RF for 2006, and then you can bring in Young in 2007 when he should be definitely ready. sayitaintso
I'll say he will start in AAA unless like Jordan4life said he has a monster spring training. If he stays in AAA, i think he would be a september call up and play the rest of the way and start in CF in 07.
SSH2005
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Ahu5...ov=ap&type=lgns The Diamondbacks signed Byrnes to play center field, the position he loves most. "The opportunity to play center field was just huge for me. I've never really gotten a ton of opportunities," Byrnes said in a telephone interview Friday with The Associated Press. "I've always felt that was my best position." The signing will allow the Diamondbacks to avoid rushing top prospect Chris Young into an everyday role in the majors. Young, considered the team's center fielder of the future, was acquired from the Chicago White Sox in the Javier Vazquez trade.
Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Ahu5...ov=ap&type=lgns Good for them. It won't hurt one bit to have Young start in Triple A. I am totally jealous of their farm system. Drew, Upton "Assuming he signs", Jackson, Quentin, Gonzalez and now Young. I guess I'll just have to settle for a World Championship. Edited January 1, 2006 by Jordan4life_2006

Mike Rizzo has done a hell of a job in the last few years as their head of scouting. He should definitely be a candidate for a GM position somewhere down the line. I'd expect them to take a lot of pitchers at the upcoming draft though. That team is going to have a hell of a young nucleus in 2007 though assuming that's when those guys are going to start playing everyday. maggsmaggs
Diamondbacks have so many great offensive prospects. They are a little thin pitching wise. Plus, their starting rotation is pathetic and their bullpen is horrible. They won't ever contend without fixing the pitching even with the potential for one of the best hitting teams in the future. Stephan Drew and Upton up the middle is going to be lethal.

DBAHO
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) Yeah, they are kinda thin pitching wise. But I envy their position players. At least they're in the position so they can address that. It's sort of like when we had so many early picks and we concentrated mainly on pitching getting Gio, Lumsden, Liotta, Whisler etc. They get two extra picks from the Giants just for losing Tim Worrell. Once they are out of it, I'd have him up at the major league level. He's gonna be some kind of all around hitter.
