maggsmaggs
"Rex Grossman heads the list of starters who won't play today against the Vikings (8-7). The third-year pro, who reclaimed his starting job Dec. 18 against Atlanta, will serve as the emergency third quarterback. Rookie Kyle Orton will make his 15th start of the season with backup Jeff Blake also expected to play. The Bears will rest six other starters who are nursing minor injuries: Safety Mike Brown (calf), defensive end Adewale Ogunleye (hamstring), receiver Muhsin Muhammad (calf), defensive tackle Ian Scott (hamstring), linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer (thumb) and cornerback Charles Tillman (shoulder). Reserve cornerback and kick returner Jerry Azumah (hip) also will be held out, while fullback Bryan Johnson (foot) was the only player ruled out due to an injury earlier in the week. " I see B-squared (Berrain) having a 100+ game. Orton will be giving every opportunity to stretch the field deep.
AirScott
OK, I don't mind watching a game with nothing at stake and plenty of starters sitting (the 6th preseason game for the Bears as the announcers called it), but did they HAVE to put Tony Siragusa on the sidelines for this one? SoCalSouthSider59
I'm bummed out........Was led to believe by my local paper and Fox that the Bears game was going to be on TV here in L.A. all week, only to turn on the TV to find the suck ass Redskins and even more suck ass Eagles playing, f***ing bulls***......... :finger Guess i'll have to call my cousin in Bourbonnais, my ol' rat partner in New Lenox, my ol' girlfriend in Palos Hills, or my aunt in Chicago, for updates with the ol' unlimited nights and weekends on my cell......... bulokis
Did somebody get injured? Im at work and I saw a glimpse of someone injured surrounded by Bears players?
chimpy2121
It was McGowan who was injured. He walked off. Anyways...I would be pissed if I was a defensive starter and all these backups are going to lose the special accomplishments for the defense. O well, at least they're in the playoffs. Chisoxfn
This is the 1st game I'm not watching in a long long time. I decided I'll use this week as a bye week. I originally thought the game was going to be on TV but they changed it (rightfully so) to the Skins game (playoff implications). Hopefully the Bears win, but I just want them to stay healthy. I have the gamecast on and Orton's numbers don't look good but I know you can't tell s*** from that so I'd defiantely appreciate occassional updates on whats going on (for those that do have the game). GoodAsGould
well 1st quarter was fun but now all starters are gone and its no fun watching all the scrubs.
maggsmaggs
Man, Orton sucks. Albeit with a bad o-line now, Rex is so much better and Lovie should win Coach of the Year just because of switching QB's.

WHarris1
f***in damn it would suck to lose the #1 DEF title to Tampa because we are playing backups.
Balta1701
Is Benson playing this week? Since he's coming off an injury I would have figured it might be a good idea for him to take a few plays just so that he could get his head back into the game before the bye week. I'd have considered doing something similar this week with Grossman, and at least giving him a quarter to try to keep himself in rhythm with the offense, except for the fact that he's proven to truly be Mr. Glass, and that 1 quarter might end his season. Chisoxfn
Benson was supposedly going to play but looking at gamecast he's yet to get out there. Jeff Blake is also supposed to see some action today.
WHarris1
f***ing blah Tampa basically has #1 defense in the bag

WHarris1
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) It's just in yards, as long as remain the best scoring defense, that is the key point. Yards is what is generally used when talking about defense. When you say #1 defense it means yards. Yes I know points are more important, and I always say that. It just sucks losing the yards title because of backups.

Maybe the players that have talked about being #1 all year? I know it's not a huge deal it's just a stupid way to lose it. Anyway... Texsox
Feels good to have a meaningless game at the end of a season.
GoodAsGould
Idonno it sucked seeing the backups in there kind of..... I know you could see in Urlachers face he was pissed he didnt get a chance to finish the game or at least play more.
whitesoxfan101
Today's game reaffirmed to me why I thought the Bears would have no chance at winning a single playoff game with Kyle Orton at QB. There isn't a single legit NFL throw in the book he can make, regardless of if he's surrounded by backups.
SoxFan1
I completely forgot about the Bears game today. Last night was crazy. So, I'm guessing they lost?

Goldmember
i don't care if it was our second & third strings playing mostly, that was a downright ugly and embarassing game to watch...
Jordan4life_2007
Not surprised with this loss. This game meant nothing and we rested a lot of starters. I am dissapointed that we're not gonna be the #1 ranked defense after this game, though. Oh well. On to the playoffs!
