Kyyle23
Actually Dayn Perry works for baseball prospectus, as Try Wingo told me the other day. I didnt realize that, but it tells me why he has strange stat fetishes.
kevin57
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) This guy, like a lot of folks in the media and some on this board, has his pet stats. In his case, he tends to over-value offense versus undervaluing pitching. And aspects like defense and speed are just not even part of the equation in his world. Therefore, Pods sucks, and the Yanks rock. :rolly You gotta love the media. They get self-righteous about what steroids have done to the integrity of the game, but then they glorify offensive numbers, offensive highlights, etc. I'd be the first one to say that that caters to all too many casual fans who would much rather see an 8-7 game than a 2-1 pitching duel. Another blessing the Sox brought to the game of baseball this past year was how pitching and defense make this game what it is...and make it exciting as well! Drew
Not Dayn Perry, but part of the 20 Questions on MLB.com 13. Will the Yankees end the Curse of Not Winning the World Series? Hey, you get used to certain things when you win three consecutive World Series, as the Bronx Bombers did from 1998-2000. And when every subsequent offseason brings monster acquisitions, you expect even more. So now that Johnny Damon is on board, people are wondering if this mini-drought will end for the Yankees. They lost the 2001 and 2003 World Series and were knocked out by the Angels in the first round in 2002 and 2005. Then there was that 2004 American League Championship Series meltdown against the rival Red Sox. Is title No. 27 waiting in 2006? Apparently, curses are the must-have of the past few years what with the Cubs, Red Sox, and White Sox venturing far into the postseasons. But all the Yankees are is the fat kid who is whining because they were denied another slice of birthday cake.

Drew
QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) Wait wait wait Nice Sig, But Richie Zisk was the Polish Prince Before my time. Some drunkard from the South Side called into some talk radio show I had on the day after the dropped third strike game reveling all about the Polish Prince.
