Now, we'll start seeing many more mock drafts in the weeks to come and will start getting a better idea of the direction a lot of these teams want to go. Of the top five draft selections, we may see as many as four new head coaches...will that affect matters? This is when it all starts getting interesting. Lot's of fun in the weeks to come. Preliminary Projection: #1 Houston-Reggie Bush(the sexy selection, but, not necessarily the correct selection) #2 New Orleans-Matt Leinart(a franchise quarterback and someone to groom for a year with a new head coach...this is an absolutely ideal selection for a team like New Orleans desperate to get a face for their now embattled franchise) #3 Tennessee-Mario Williams(a great selection here and someone that will become a Pro-Bowler in no time...could go with Ferguson the OT here or may trade the selection) #4 New York Jets-Vince Young(a little too high for a Vince Young selection in my opinion, but, with Pennington and his arm troubles fresh in everyone's memories after an absolutely dismal season, the Jets make the big splash and draft the quarterback of the future, a fine choice) #5 Green Bay-AJ Hawk(a great selection here for the Packers...Hawk is about as NFL-ready an OLB as ever there was one...the size, speed, and instincts this guy has are second to none at his position...he should go here and will become the face of the Packers defense in two years' time)
Spiff
I think New Orleans might take Vince Young.
greasywheels121
Is Vince Young going to turn pro regardless of what happens Wednesday? Linehart obviously wasn't going to get any higher than he was last year. I don't think anyone could top Young, if he were to hold out. THEWOOD
I reallly hope AJ does not go to the Packers. That would be hard for me to watch. Any team but the Packers!!
AnthraxFan93
With so Many needs at Houston.. I could see them dealing the pick, For a 1,3,4 this year 1 and 3 next year.. Maybe more given Bush going pro. Houston has Domnick Davis, they could also trade him for a 2nd round pick, Draft Bush, and pick up 2 OL in the 2nd round. Balta1701
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) Is Vince Young going to turn pro regardless of what happens Wednesday? Linehart obviously wasn't going to get any higher than he was last year. I don't think anyone could top Young, if he were to hold out. Young has said repeatedly that he's planning on staying next year. Who knows how wednesday will change that, but Young's words have all said he's staying. Who knows how wednesday will change that, but Young's words have all said he's staying. That's what I thought too. I could see that changing if they beat USC; however, I was hearing the same thing. That's why I was confused to see Vince Young high up in these draft "predictions".
HuskyCaucasian
I think New Orleans takes Matt Leinart because I have a REAL hard time believing that the Saints will be in N.O. in 2007. The NFL is basically FORCING them to play there next year even though it would be better for the team to play in San Antonio. I am sure that will piss of the owner and he'll force a move to LA. Matt Leinart returns to LA. Seems like a big draw to me!
Rowand44
I'd have to believe that if Texas wins Vince is gone and if not he stays.

Texans would not be able to get a second rounder for Davis. Maybe a 4th or a 5th. But he isn't special and you can get one of those in the draft almost any time. Vince Young fits it better, also something tells me that the New York Jets are going to trade up and try to make some sort of deal with the Texans. Punch and Judy Garland
You wonder if the Texans will be at all interested in trading down since they have Carr still and Davis and Vernand Morency at tailback. I doubt it but they could try to trade down to the Titans or Jets and take Ferguson and gain some picks

Id like to see Vince Young fall to them and TO go back to his former team. Snowballs chance in hell though.

WilliamTell
I have to give props to the 49'ers for going out strong and winning their last 2 games. They went from the 2nd pick to the 7th pick. I'm happy to played to win.
CanOfCorn
I have a feeling that Vince Young is coming back next year no matter what happens. Scouts still don't like his throwing motion and I think he wants to win that Heisman. Just a gut feeling. I hope the Bears get Brandon Williams from Wisconsin. nitetrain8601
Don't be suprised if the Saints take AJ Hawk. Supposedly, they want to sign a vet QB and have him compete with Adrian MacPherson for the starting QB role(NO is high on AM) and they really like AJ Hawk. Aaron Brooks is as good as out the door and Bouman played himself out of a job. I think the Bears should take a look at Brooks as a backup QB. DBAHO
Right now the Cowboys have needs at RT, G, C, LB and FS. Unless there's a good veteran RT out there in FA to be had, I'd expect the Boys to really have a long look at someone like Winston Justice, Marcus McNeill, or a safety like Laron Landry.
