Palehosefan
Houston has a wonderful oppurtunity to make themselves much better this offseason. They are set at the QB, and RB positions and teams will be dying to trade up to #1 to get either Bush or Vince Young. Even Mario Williams with a Peppers like combine could have some DE needing teams looking at the top spot. Houston can allow a bidding war, and gain a starting OL, and a few 1st around picks out of it most likely. There are some real freaks of nature in this upcoming draft, not just Vince, Reggie, and Mario, but even guys like Thomas Howard/OLB at 6'3 240, could put up a low 4.5 40 combine time. WilliamTell
The best choice for Houston is to trade down. Like you said they don't need a QB or any RB's. They're set at the WR position, what the need is an OL.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) I hope we have the NFL draft thing again like last year. Taht was kinda fun, and I remember I was pretty damn high on Sean Taylor...heh... Oh we will. Hopefully Addy is still down with running it. Chisoxfn
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) Young still staying after this game? Doubt it. I doubt it too, but than again I felt the same way about Leinart. I still think he was an idiot for staying and Young would be an idiot to stay as well. Both will be top 10 picks and get a whole lot of money. Take the green while you can cause you never know what could happen.

White Sox Josh
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) It's funny how the only Texan who did his job has the least job security. I agree they shouldn't draft him. NO should. he is a mobile QB. BTW check out the David Carr Game

nitetrain8601
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) Young's not saying he's going or staying at the post-game AKA he gone. They asked him if he's going to try to repeat next year and he said it was going to be hard and that they were going to have to work extra hard in the offseason to repeat. His tone sounded like he was including himself in they. The guy is staying. And I don't think it's a mistake for him to stay or Leinart. They're still going to get their money still. Palehosefan
Sean May was staying also, even during the parade celebration... You just won the national title and had the best game of your life, you are losing possibly your 3 best OL, and your hometown team is picking #1 overall, I don't think he CAN pass that up. Houston won't pick him, Texas has the nation's best recruiting class(with a stud OL), and he has a chance to for the Heisman(which he really wants badly) plus the shot of winning another National Championship. Remember that his WR's will also be better considering they'll be sophmores and juniors.
whitesoxfan101
If Houston has a clue, they trade the pick. Between Leinart, Bush, and maybe Vince....they could get SOOOO much for that pick, and build depth on a roster barren of talent.

whitesoxfan101
It would be almost impossible for Vince to not go after tonight's performance. It would be cool if he stayed, but it would just, I don't think it can happen.
Soxbadger
I really dont think Young can stay after this game. He just flat out dominated, and he almost always looks to pass first and run second. He will be very good in the NFL, if I was Houston I would trade Carr and draft Young. They have a good RB core, they have Andre Johnson, they in no way can hurt their franchise by drafting Young. He is going to be a Texas hero, if they pass on him and he does well, they will never live it down. Even if Young doesnt pan out, the fan base will understand far more. Bush looks like a smaller S. Alexander. Some of those Texas lineman look real good, I could be real happy with the Bears getting one. SB

Would Carr be worth an early 1st round pick to someone? The Jets could use a good young QB; as could Detroit, New Orleans, Cleveland, Oakland, Arizona... etc.

I wouldn't mind getting that 365 pound Samoan (sorry, I wish I could use a better term, but that's all I got) from USC. Last I heard (which was in the 4th quarter) he had held All-American Rodrique Wright to ZERO TACKLES.
Soxbadger
I dont know how damaged his value has been. Some scouts were not always thrilled with him to begin with. I mean I think you could get a 2 this year and maybe a 1 the next. Teams are always more willing to deal next years 1st round pick. Especially when its a high 1st round pick like some of the worse teams have.
DBAHO
QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) Would Carr be worth an early 1st round pick to someone? The Jets could use a good young QB; as could Detroit, New Orleans, Cleveland, Oakland, Arizona... etc. Just think you're in Charlie Casserly's shoes right now. You've got 3 options, take Reggie Bush who's a one of a kind talent in there at RB, Vince Young at QB and the fans are really going to be putting the pressure on to do this since he's a local boy and after what he's done, or trade down and take Brickshaw. The smart money says #3, although most people think they'll do #1. After tonight, I wouldn't rule out #2 at all, if they can get a 1st round pick for Carr, which they should be able to. A team like the Miami Dolphins would be perfect for Carr.
southsider2k5
Just a thought after that game... Where does that TE from Texas rate...Thomas I think his name was? Is he a possibility for the Bears?

Where does that TE from Texas rate...Thomas I think his name was? Is he a possibility for the Bears? The clear top 3 are Vernon Davis of Maryland, Leonard Pope of Georgia, and Marcedes Lewis of USC. IMO the Bears will try to get one of those guys with their first pick, because they are ALL studs. I suppose Thomas is a guy the Bears could go after later on if they don't take a TE in the first round though, he'll be a first day pick IMO. Chisoxfn
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 05:46 AM) Just a thought after that game... Where does that TE from Texas rate...Thomas I think his name was? Is he a possibility for the Bears? He played really good. I haven't heard him talked about and I know he isn't one of the top draft candidates. Since I don't follow Texas enough i got no clue whether he's a senior or not. One thing for certain, the guy showed pretty good hands and he was a great safety valve for Vince Young. Fasano (ND) is another guy thats not in the top 3 but will be a 1st day TE selection. This year there are quiet a few good TE's, which is why part of me leans to drafting a Olineman or CB in the 1st round and taking care of TE in the 2nd round (Cause I think Fasano and some others are pretty good and the dropoff in talent isn't as great as it would be with a CB or olineman). That said, if some guy really slides down the draft board I got no problem nabbing best available (as long as it isn't RB). If it is a RB or QB dropping down the board, I'd hope a team used us to move up and we could drop down and cumulate a few more selections to add depth.
