I thought this was a pretty interesting perspective about the Sox in 2005 from a Cub's fan.  I assume there are many more like him.

Just put the big L on your forehead right now and go back to watching some Scrubs highlights from 2005, oh wait there weren't any.

The price of success and future success, will be casual fans attending 2 or 3 games when before they never attended. There will be families from Winnetka dropping by for a weekend day game, tourists who decide to add a Sox game to their vacation, corporate types entertaining, all these people, and the Cub converts, need to be welcomed and encouraged. That is how we draw 3 million year after year.

Nice article, however, I am suprised more of you didn't catch the fact that he makes out like he was a big time Cub fan for years who was "converted" this year. If he was such a big Cub fan, why would he have a Carlos Lee jersey from 4 years ago? Call me crazy, but I am a diehard Sox fan and it would be a cold day in hell before I ever purchased ANY type of Cubs merchandise, (outside of Cubs toilet paper) let alone a jersey, EVER. I think all true Sox fans would feel the same way.

sounds like a tool who will never get true satisfaction out of sports and rooting for a team.

He did say he was a fairweather fan, so I assume he bought it after the 2000 season.

I agree though, I have never been a Cubs fan and will never be one.
