I wonder if his hearing loss has anything to do with, Oh I dunno, playing loud as f*** in a rock and roll band for like 30 years.

I love how people do stupid s*** for years and years and then suddenly get preachy. I wonder if the IPod people can sue his ass, like the beef industry sued Oprah.

he also lost a significant amount of hearing on a TV show when Keith Moon and the pyro man got wasted and put in WAY too much explosives into Moon's kit and Townsend was standing right in front of it when it went off.

But do you love The Flower Leperds??? :D

Listening to them now, in fact. I like them okay, I'm not in love. The pieces are all there, but something's not quite grabbing me. I hear some Dead Boys influence in there, and I loved them. But this is just missing for some reason. I'm liking The Cartels MUCH more than The Flower Leperds. Excellent disc, it is.

No word from Wisconsin on them yet, though.... :D

:britishflag: Love the Who, always have, and proud to say it. :britishflag:

The kid-porn infatuated Mr. Townsend creeps me the hell out though.

I haven't bothered to read the linked piece, but I remember an article from the early 80s in which Pete talks abouut already losing significant hearing from years of playing in front of a wall of amps without any earplugs. Ted Nugent was another one interviewed for the piece who was losing hearing and had taken to wearing protection.

On that subject, now Mr. Nugent. . . there's a guy I never developed a taste for (Amboy Dukes notwithstanding).

Too bad he's right.

I saw a report which stated that if people are listening to music at or above 60% of the device's hearing capability for more than an hour a day they're subject to hearing damage. And earbuds are awful for your hearing health.

I've never understood the love of the Who.

They do nothing for me.

In the town where my wife grew up in Wisconsin, everyone freakin' LOVES the Who, and I just don't get it.

I felt the same way, then I saw them perform on some kind of benefit concert within the last few years, maybe it was a Sept. 11th benefit, anyway they completely blew me away as a live act. I'm still not a 'fan', but I can see the attraction.

If you were blown away by a live concert with the 2001 version of the Who and no Keith Moon, then holy s***, you should hear some of the soundboard concerts from 1968-1975. There's like 25 to 30 of them, including a few official releases.

Maybe I should invite Critic and Kid Gleason over to help me evaluate all of them. You guys would absolutely love my bootleg collection. :D

Hey, I'm not anti-Who. I think they did some pretty good stuff. I just am not a slobbering fan of theirs, and I think Pete should have been locked up for his crime and find it ridiculous that people look past the fact that he was busted for kiddie porn. I'm surprised Gary Glitter isn't also using the "research" excuse seeing as how it worked so well for Pete.

But musically I like 'em just fine. I think Moon was a heck of a sloppy/wacky drummer who was all over the place, but that is just personal taste. But heck, considering Kenny Jones replaced Moon, there is no way I could ever HATE The Who.

Pink Floyd now then, they bore me to tears, and I have enjoyed much Prog Rock in my time.

Well, the UK did drop the charges against Townshend, so it seems at least some people found his story credible.

I'll pass, Hammerhead.

I've heard all the Who I need to hear.

No disrespect intended, I just don't like them.
