Rex Hudler
Sweet. I was hoping we would get positive news on him. Beating out Kentucky for him makes it a little sweeter. Rivals has him listed as a 3-star player and Scout.com gives him 4-stars. Edited May 27, 2006 by Rex Hudler

Palehosefan
Maybe not so fast on Phil Jones to IU... Despite a recent story in the Indianapolis Star that had senior center Phil Jones signing with Kelvin Sampson and Indiana, the New York big man said he hasn’t made a decision and will take at least two more visits in the next week. ``I’m not sure where it came from that I signed with Indiana, but that was wrong,” said the 6-foot-10 Brooklyn native. “I’m still not sure where I am going.” Jones spent this past season at Laurinburg Institute (N.C.). Jones has only taken one official visit – to Indiana. He visited Rutgers unofficially last week and plans to head to Seton Hall sometime this week for an official trip and then to UConn before making a decision. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=9&cfg=bb...2007&cid=535505 The UConn visit would be the only thing worrying me if I were an IU fan. greasywheels121
Ummm.... Where'd these quotes come from then? "I chose IU because it's Indiana basketball and the program speaks for itself," Jones said. "Overall, I just think it was the best opportunity for me to showcase my talent. I like the coaching staff and when I was there on my visit, all of the players just made me feel like I was already part of the team. That influenced my decision, too.'' ........ Jones said he plans to move to Bloomington on June 13 and will begin summer school classes June 16. Larry Davis, an IU recruiting target from Christ the King High School in Queens, N.Y., announced Friday he will attend Seton Hall. Davis and Jones are good friends, and Jones said he had hoped he could get the shooting guard to come to IU as well, but it didn't work out. "We talked about it, but he just felt he needed to go to Seton Hall, and I wanted to do what was best for me and that was Indiana,'' Jones said. And it's weird that Rivals had him down as signed too. I still se no way we are going to get him but I thought I would correct the original post. then something must have changed since may 25. in the interview at the link his quote is: "Notre Dame, Southern Cal and Florida State are a bit out in front," he said. i know how recruiting is and kids are fickle, so i suppose it's possible he has kicked off usc and added illinois. any link for this? not trying to be an ass, it's just that as an illinois fan i'd be very excited if we were back in the picture. Palehosefan
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/ Rivals has been coming out with their 27 5 star players for the 2007 class. UNC has one of the 27 in Dwight Jones, and might have 2 tomorrow if Mike Paulus is on the list. Not that anyone else cares, but I do like to talk to myself. thedoctor
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) Turner is going to be in Champaign on an unofficial visit. McCamey won't be there as St. Joes isn't in that tourney. EJ, Rose, Tisdale, and Cole will be playing though. could be a really productive weekend. i like the fact turner is choosing to go down there and visit when so many signees and potential signees are going to be on-hand. hopefully some former players will be able to make it as well. Rex Hudler
Not sure this belongs here, but wasn't sure where to put it. Mods feel free to move it as you see fit, whether to another thread or to its own thread if that is warranted.... Anybody hear about the transfer rule the NCAA passed? The new rule allows a 5th yr senior who has graduated and has one year of eligibility remaining to transfer to another school and be able to play immeditely. The athlete would not have to sit out a year as is required with normal transfers. The rule may have been passed last year, but seems to just now be getting attention. It's purpose is to allow an athlete who has graduated, to transfer to another school for graduate school, not limiting his grad school choices. The first example, is a QB from Arizona who graduated in three years, will transfer to Vanderbilt this year and be eligible immeditely. He is a rare instance because he actually has two years of eligibility remaining and has graduated.

I just hope they never buy into this talk that the tourney needs fixing by adding more and more teams. There are always going to be snubs, and I personally don't want a 2 month tournament.
