My thoughts on Rose are very simple. If he has nothing on his mind other than being a 1 year player, then let him go elsewhere. I already have trepidation about Gordon doing so. I want IU to compete at the highest level, but I don't want them to turn into a one and done factory. The only reason I was so excited to get Gordon is that he is an in-state kid and those are the kind of kids we need.

If Rose goes to Illinois or Memphis, that's fine by me. We'll take Eshuante Jones or Jai Lucas and be done with it.

Regardless, I like the excitement Gordon has put back into the IU program. Now all we have to see is if Sampson can coach in the Big Ten.

If IU misses out on Rose, than they will likely be done. Word on the street is that Jones is likely heading to prep school(doesn't have the grades), and IU is an extreme long shot to land Lucas. You might see them go after a JUCO player or two, or possible a late bloomer in the spring. Personally, I still think they need another PG(if they don't get Rose). Bassett will be the only scholarship PG on the roster next year.

Is anyone hearing anything about Noel Devine? I'm not getting much info from Rivals other than he is considering several schools equally.

All I've heard is academic eligibility questions. FSU has been supporting him trying to get his grades up for a while now. I don't know about other schools. I don't really think of him even committing though because of the academics.

Jordan Crawford, a 3-star PG out of Hargrave Military Academy in VA was scheduled to visit IU today. Supposedly, IU and Xavier are currently his top two choices.

Derrick was the one who requested the visit

Derrick was also the one who requested to stay over night

Derrick wants to stay over night at UI again

If Derrick verbals, a certain other big time recruit will likely follow assuming the coaches still want him there(I'm sure you can figure out who that is)

Derrick may eliminate a school by the time of his announcement

Rose to UI is certainly looking better. I don't know. Still seems like Memphis to me for whatever reason.

No, I can't figure out who that is. Who's the big time recruit who would follow him?

I've been reading up on him, and he's someone I would really like to see the Hoosiers pick up. He'd probably be a four-year player, and fill a strong need.

No, it is not Eric Gordon. I'm pretty the Illini staff would never take Gordon back onto their roster anyway....

Yeah, Gordon to IU is final. He was at the football game today and the scrimmage after the game.

according to maryland's scout site, arrelious benn has narrowed his list to a final three: florida state, illinois, and maryland.

he has trimmed notre dame from his list.

Can you post a link to the article that says this, even if it is an insider article and just the headline? I checked the Maryland site up and down and couldn't find an article about Benn cutting ND. In the article that you posted below it certainly doesn't say that ND is out of it(not sure if that is the article that you are refering too). I do think that FSU and UI are the favorites at this point, but I haven't read anything that says that he has completely cut ND out of the picture. It would be a staggering change of events though. Most thought that he was 95% ND earlier this summer. Some even considered him a silent to ND, so him completely cutting them out at this point would be big news.

Yeah, I'm a little shocked by that news. I would have thought he cut off Maryland if anyone.

i'm not sure that there's any mention specifically of him "cutting" notre dame. he was just asked to list his finalists, and those were the schools he named.

if you check some of the notre dame message boards (notredame.scout.com; notredame.rivals.com) there's plenty of discussion of the irish's lack of a mention.

in other news, four-star defensive end d'angelo mccray has canceled his visit to georgia tech and name illinois his leader.

Benn/McCray have ILL in top 2. Go get 'em Zooker.

I just fail to see why you would want to go to UofI over FSU, ND, UF, USC, and other schools. It just makes no sense to me why you would want to go to such a sucky school. I know FSU sucks really hard, but holy crap...UofI?

D'lo even said that UofI is in a rebuilding stage and he likes that over UF who is already there? I can understand wanting playing time, but UF is so much closer to winning championships than UofI will ever be in the next four years.

In general, a player would want to go to a U of I for two reasons. One, to play right away and two, to be a part of turning something around. The big fish in the little pond theory.

I am not sure about FSU's WR depth, but it seems at ND, he could get immediate playing time, with them losing both Samardzjia and McKnight. this year. So that would negate one of the advantages U of I might have, I would think.

It's starting to look like Benn and Austin might be a package deal for Maryland or Illinois.....unless Florida State and their horrible offense and moron offensive coordinator can lure Benn away. Maryland is a big threat though being the local school for those 2, offering immediate PT, and having put quite a few guys in the NFL on defense lately, as well as Friedgen being known as an offensive coach.

Depth sucks here. We have Chris Davis who will be gone, D'Cody f**g, and Greg Carr. f**g and Carr both have bad hands and are not guarenteed anything. Benn said he could start right away and he likes that.

I just think it's crazy Zook can recruit that well. I was talking with Willie and we both agree he is just bringing in talent for the next coach.
