whitesoxfan101
I've read and heard that Hodge is very similar to the pre injury version of Greg Jones at FSU. Jones was lighter pre injury (225 or so, like Hodge) but ran about a 4.4 (also like Hodge). I can't wait to see him. Oh, and Verdell Jones is all but a Jayhawk already. Get the table ready for him in Lawrence, Jimbo. Edited February 16, 2007 by whitesoxfan101

whitesoxfan101
If Jamar is out the door for good (speculatory for now at least), that makes 2008 even more interesting. There are a lot of good players in that class that the Illini could very well get (even with Jones a KU lock) and that class could actually be a good one. whitesoxfan101
The new rivals 150 agrees with me....McCamey, Watkins, and Tisdale are all good findings, and the Cold scholly was premature, not only because he's not that great, but also because we could have had Darquavis Tucker, who is a lot better and a bigger need as a wing. Still not a bad class though.
aboz56
Eli Holman moved up to a 4 star in the new Rivals 150, he's rated 80, thats up about 30 spots. McGee held at a 3-star, up three spots to No. 105. And Gordon held at No. 2 overall. As far as Scout goes (they rank Juco's and prep schoolers as well), Gordon is #2, Ellis is #26, Holman #91, Crawford #100 and McGee #105. Real nice class. RockRaines
I hope the Bucks can bring in a couple more players, but as it stands right now, I love the height that this team brings to the table. This class is pretty tall IMO 6-6 6-6 6-8 7-0 6-5 all 5 in the top 100, me likey
Heads22
Future ISU PG Diante Garrett moves from unranked to #112. I think he'll have the biggest impact of anyone.
Heads22
I came across this tidbit, and it sounds like it could be Houston area QB Andrew Luck... Almost Forgot. Chizik said that the best QB prspect in the Midwest visited Ames last saturday. Chizik said they called him on Wednesday and the parents paid for a private jet to bring him up here to see Iowa State. Coach said this kid will probably have offers from every Big 12 and Big 10 school. But, this kid wanted to see Iowa State and meet the coaches. Jimbo's Drinker
then Kale Pick took a trip to Lawrence....ISU and Kansas are his final two. I love having Ed Warriner, the guy looks like he knows what hes doing.
Soxbadger
Final 2? Kind of early in the football recruiting process to say anything at this point. QB's do commit early, but first guys like Landry Jones, etc are gonna do it, then guys like Pick. Because the top schools offer the top choice, then depending on the school that misses him, they start to go down the line.
Jimbo's Drinker
His dad went to Iowa State. He lives in Kasas, already turned down Kstate.
Soxbadger
So far you have not mentioned a legitimate top 25 team offering him. Im just saying that this could all change depending on where other top Qb's go. Guys like Landry Jones are going to set up where all the rest of the qb's fall. Just like Mallet, Claussen, etc did last year.
Rowand44
Justin Bocot was at our game today: http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/vie...mp;pr_key=46494 Very interesting as we don't have a 2007 scholarship remaining.
Rowand44
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 01:14 AM) Justin Bocot was at our game today: http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/vie...mp;pr_key=46494 Very interesting as we don't have a 2007 scholarship remaining. "I just came back from a visit to Southern Illinois this past weekend," Bocot said. "Everything there went really good. I like how they always play hard, and how the campus is set up. All the computer labs and resources for academics are all in one location. The campus overall was pretty nice too." "I'll probably commit to them soon. It should be within the next week or two. I do still plan to visit Iowa officially next month though." ----------------------------- Kind of a weird situation. His comments are very odd as he says he's going to commit here but he's planning on visiting Iowa. What makes the whole situation strange is as I said in the first post, we don't have a scholarship for next season available. Could mean someone is leaving the team by transfer or early graduation, very interesting none the less. EDIT: Well, he cancelled his trip to Iowa and now has verballed here: Southern Illinois dipped into the 2007 talent pool and found itself a high-scoring wing guard. Justin Bocot, a 6-foot-3 standout from Bloomington (Ill.) High, committed to the Salukis Sunday night. Bocot told Scout.com that he visited SIU this past weekend and has cancelled a trip to Iowa. At the end of the day, Bocot passed on bigger interests and pledged to the program that showed the most consistent commitment to recruiting him. “It was a lot (of big schools) but they really weren’t showing me interest earlier so I stayed away from them,” Bocot said. “I’ve been talking to (SIU) since my freshman year. They were interested then and still are.” Who wouldn’t be? Bocot averaged 21 points as a senior. He wreaked havoc on the AAU circuit in a bucket-making role with Ft. Sooy No Limit. Bocot, who indicated he’s doing well in core classes and is on target to qualify, may redshirt his first season regardless. “I think I’m going to sit out my first year and get bigger and stronger. I won’t lose any eligibility.” Given last year’s tournament success and the proceeding higher-profile this year for the Missouri Valley, more and more top notch prospects see the league as a viable option straight out of high school. “Some people go for the name on the jersey and don’t look into the program. I looked into the program and they had a real good program.” This is a great get for us. Edited February 26, 2007 by Rowand44
whitesoxfan101
Bocot is a great get. If Lowery can get his attitude under control, he's as good as anybody in this state not named Derrick Rose in terms of HS seniors this year. Oh, and I'd suggest all the Illini fans around here get to know Scott Suggs, if he isn't the first member of the 2008 class I'd be all very surprised. thedoctor
apparently bocot has canceled his visit to iowa and is committed to siu. since the salukis have no scholarships remaining, either a prep school or a transfer is probably in the offing. either way, nice get. bocot is a very talented player. his attitude has come in question in the past but i've read good things about how he's matured this year. A couple options have been mentioned on Salukitalk.net, but the consensus is that Jordan Armstrong will be transferring out and opening up the scholarship for Bocot. Armstrong was supposed to see minutes this year and he really hasnt taken the next step, which is unfortunate. The other option I have read is that Jamaal Foster(who graduates this year) will take an academic scholarship and open up an athletic scholarship for Bocot. Unless there is a mystery player who is planning to opt out, and the only players I am seeing are Tyrone Green, Tony Boyle, and Josh Bone. Of those three, I think Green would be the most likely, he had a tough transition from JUCO to D1 although he has been playing more minutes recently and hasnt been the offensive liability he was earlier in the year. Jimbo's Drinker
KU signs Connor Teahan to a special"walk on" role. Artesia is loaded. 2007 James Harden 5* going to ASU. 2008 4* Malik Story going to USC and then super soph Renardo Sidney. And then if Dominguez somehow wins that game they have to play Mater Dei whose only 3 losses are to Artesia, Oak Hill Academy and Lake Oswego (Kevin Love). I'm not sure how the California prep playoffs work, but man is that a loaded bracket.
