on the illinois pregame loren tate said freeman has not committed.

following up from yesterday. freeman has told several people he has committed to illinois. this isn't surprising, considering his final two were illinois and msu and msu snared a commitment from stud durrell summers earlier this week.

however, according to various reports freeman does not have an offer yet because illinois wants to look at his grades a little more closely. safe to say, if his grades improve, they will offer.

if not, the other options are patrick beverley, deonte vaughn and ramar smith. either that, bank it, or keep it open with the option of giving it to trent meacham.

Edge and Champ way down the list.

Its just hard to project High School players. I mean Courtney Brown was supposed to be a sure bet in the Pros, but never has reached his potential showing that even the jump from college to NFL is often hard to predict.

Alot of good players are in the middle of the pack, Thomas Jones, Backus, even Plaxico.

And Ron Dayne was 44 as a FB?

Also Coles as rb lol.

Injuries have been his biggest problem in the pros.

Goings was on that list too. Pretty crazy list. Tons of high draft picks and solid NFL players on there.

Mike Brown was on it too. And than there was Katzenmoyer, what happened to that guy. He was a machine in college (didn't he eventually have some sort of career ending injury?)

katzenmoyer had a neck injury with the pats that ended his career. he coaches high school football in the burbs out this way.

Here is something interesting from the UCLA Bruins message boards.

This story was posted on Bruin Nation:

"The story has been going around today that ESPN the Magazine has "outed" former ESPN personality and recruiting guru Tom Lemming as a Notre Dame shill. The excerpt comes from an article on Rivals top 10 player and all-everything cornerback Myron Rolle, a highly regarded player who is also making a name as one of the most well spoken and articulate 5* recruits to ever come down the pike. And it reads as follows:

"Tom Lemming is a huge Notre Dame guy," Myron says. "He kept saying to me, `You know they have a great coaching staff. You know Charlie Weis is Mr. NFL. You're an academic guy. That place is for you.' Then he killed Florida State. He said, `You're stupid if you go there.' Um, okay. Thanks."

The article is raising eyebrows across the internet, which surprises me, because outing Tom Lemming as a Notre Dame shill is like outing me as a guy who likes cookies. Lorenzo Booker made exactly the same accusation (about Lemming, not me), but he didn't have a 4.0 GPA, and he was going to FSU and enough people were able to write it off as "typical loudmouth Seminole ... probably got @#%$ 'cause Lemming dropped him in the rankings.""

Penn State is putting up a dominant class again this year. Pat Devlin 5 star QB switched his verbal from Miami to PSU yesterday, then PSU picked up a 4 star DT, and a 5 star OL today. Also, strong rumors that Vidal Hazelton, one of the top 5 players in the country, and current USC commit, is seriously thinking about switching to PSU as well. Amazing what a commit from Derrick Williams last year did for PSU, he made it cool again to play for PSU.

Nice, 2 solid TE's in this class.

And it definitely looks good for Britt. The WR's in this class are among the best in the country.

Cumberland is a very good get. Hopefully his grades are in order and he is playing TE for the Illini next year.

honestly, i have not read much that is really encouraging grade-wise. he's had a 2.45 gpa last i heard, which would probably put him in the range of needing an 840 on the SAT to qualify. so, perhaps it's a longshot, but if it comes in this is a really, really good get.
