Good job topping the list. . . ya bunch of fatties!! :P

Baltimore has been named America's fittest city, with Chicago overtaking Houston as the fattest. Last year's fittest city, Seattle, drops to No. 8 in the new list, released today by Men's Fitness magazine.

I'd like to take this time to address the many fine Chicagoans, and Chicago-area citizens as well, who take the time and effort to keep themselves in shape. I regretfully take responsibility for skewing the average weight of all Chicagoans, and for that I, and my laughable girth, would like to SINCERELY apologize. My gluttonous intake of all snack foods, greasy fast-food meals and sugary carbonated beverages have caused you, the treadmilling, salad-eating, portion-conscious folks, to be lumped ( no pun about my general shape intended ) into a category which you have worked feverishly to avoid. And for that, I am truly sorry.

Now, that said.....are you gonna finish that?

In best Superfan voice

"I installed a sink in my kitchen with three* spouts."

"Three spouts? For what?"

"Hot, cold, and mild sausage"

*three is pronounced "tree" in superfanese

Chicago just has too many great places to eat. We cant help ourselves. ;)

I never understand how people get so f***ing fat. Are they really that lazy?

This poll really makes me annoyed, this is one thing I wish we didn't beat houston in.

Is it that hard to

1) Put the fork down?

2) get to the gym?

I understand that there are rare cases where people have medical problems thyrod being one of them, but with that said..This is something I am embrassed to say I live here.

Its funny, at every single gym probably in the chicagoland area. The week after new years eve you have a hard time getting on a machine at some gyms. Everyone working out. Give it a month. The New Years resolutioners have given up and are back on the couch watching TV and eating the bon bons. At least that is how it is at most ballys' and at lifetime fitness. I will be back up in the front row of the treadmills in 3 weeks again like I was the week before Christmas.

I see the same thing.

What I like to do is find the exception. You see some people regularly at the gym (same people go at the same times). Usually they look pretty much the same. But every so often, you see someone new show up out of shape, and over a period of months, watch them actually get in shape. It's kind of cool, but also sad, because it seems so rare.

Yep.

Too hard.

Not too hard for everyone, just too hard for me. I'm way lazy. Oops, sorry.

As long as they make bigger clothes, I'm okay.

Until I have to call in fat to work, I will happily waddle on.

If a report about fat people in your city makes you embarrassed of where you live, you MIGHT be too sensitive.

According to the article, it might not be that we are that fat in Chicago, just living in a place not "conductive" to fitness:

Last year, Baltimore was closer to Houston than it was to Honolulu, checking in as the 25th-fattest city in the Men's Fitness tally.

How could such a turnaround be possible in the span of a year? Men's Fitness editor Neal Boulton is quick to point out that the survey is far from scientific, and he says it took additional factors into account this year that worked in Baltimore's favor.

Among them: the amount of public park space, access to health care, air quality, the relatively small number of fast-food restaurants and the leadership of Mayor Martin O'Malley. Boulton says Baltimore has become safer, more prosperous and more conducive to fitness.

Have the folk in Baltimore really gotten thinner?

That is why I take most of January off from the gym. Your body needs a break once in a while anyway and if you're a regular, January is the perfect 'off' time.
