Felix
I really didn't expect him to win it. This is great though, he's done an amazing job in Chicago, and no one is more deserving
maggsmaggs
I didn't think he would win it when the Colts were 13-0, but then when they lost I think Lovie became the front runner.

knightni
This Bears season is a lot like the White Sox' season.

RME JICO
Ozzie and Lovie. I wonder if two coaches from the same city won the award in the same year before? Just like this was the first year the Sox and Bears won their Divisions in the same year.
Dam8610
QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) Bears 2 Colts 0 I'll take that. Just tell me when the Bears inept offense gets off the field so I can watch Manning and the Colts offense make it 7-2.

SoxFan1
Can't wait for the Colts fans to barge into this thread Lovie definitely deserved it but honestly, I would have given it to Marvin Lewis in Cincy.
Heads22
I thought Saban deserved a sniff.
rangercal
I would have voted Lovie, Dungy, Saban

greasywheels121
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) Can't wait for the Colts fans to barge into this thread Lovie definitely deserved it but honestly, I would have given it to Marvin Lewis in Cincy. The Colts have had plenty of individual recognition the past few years, it hasn't gotten them jack.
GoodAsGould
Once Dungy lost 1 game Lovie had the award wrapped up.
Jordan4life_2007
I'm shocked that Lovie won it. Not because he didn't deserve it, but because I thought Dungy would be the sentimental pick because of what happened to his son. Congrats, Lovie! RME JICO
Here is a weird coincidence. The Bears last 4 coaches have all won the Coach of the Year award, and they all were off the team within a few years, with some have horrible years the following year. I really hope Lovie breaks this trend: COTY Kiss of Death? Ditka 1988 - next year 6-10, fired after 1992. Wannstedt 1994 - 3 yrs later 4-12, fired after 1998. Jauron 2001 - next year 4-12, fired after 2003. Smith 2005 - ?? No coach has lasted longer than 4 years after winning the award.

They don't seem to have a very long shelf life.

hammerhead johnson
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) I thought Saban deserved a sniff. No question about it, especially after winning 6 in a row to close out the season. Good God. Also, Joe Gibbs should have received consideration as well. He has turned that franchise around, and then some.
