NUKE_CLEVELAND
QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) I hope Bush gets two more picks before he leaves office so there is a clear 5 vote conservative majority. I wish the Dems would have been successful in their filibuster because Bush could have nominated Brown and Estrada to the bench and solidified the majority. Kennedy Kerry Durbin Leahy Schumer Better luck next time boys... The next best shot he'll have to get a pick will be Stevens who I believe is something like 85 years old. He steps aside and the SCOTUS is a conservative bastion for the next 20 years.

kevin57
Although I'm not a Dem, let me take a shot at why Byrd is voting FOR Alito. He's up for election in a state that is trending more and more conservative. He's stayed in office so long because he can bring home the pork very effectively...but even that, after a while, is not enough. He's starting to hear footsteps behind him.
