juddling
DALLAS A self-described white supremacist and his mother face federal charges stemming from two carjackings and attempts to threaten the victims in those cases. The U-S Attorney's Office says 41-year-old Gary Dale Stanley is scheduled to go on trial next week on two counts of carjacking, using a firearm during a violent crime, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Stanley, of Kaufman, has pleaded not guilty. His mother, 58-year-old Margaret Menough is was accused of calling the carjacking victims and telling them they would be harmed or killed if they didn't drop the charges against her son. Prosecutors say recorded phone calls between Stanley and Menough showed the threats were serious. Authorities say Menough contacted the victims using personal information supplied by her son. If convicted, Stanley faces a maximum sentence of 87 years in prison while his mother faces a maximum sentence of 45 years. The apple didn't fall far from the tree this time.
