Chisoxfn
Ok, would the facemask prevent the fumble from happening?
jackie hayes
You'd think...after the Broncos game...ya know...be more careful...I dunno...
whitesoxfan101
It's still Bears ball because of the fasemask I believe.
Dick Allen
The Bears will still have the ball on the facemask. It was a personal foul facemask, so I think its an automatic first down.
Chisoxfn
Ok here's my thoughts. Since there was a facemask before the fumble, wouldn't we accept the penalty and still hold onto the ball. I wouldn't think they'd be able to get the ball back on a defensive penalty, but maybe I'm wrong??? I'm hoping for 1st and goal on the 1. I'd be crushed if we lost the football. Brian
I think the Bears will have it on the 1 yard line after this challenge. Thank God for the face mask or else the Panthers would have it on the 20. At least I think that is what should happen if I understand it. Chisoxfn
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) It's still Bears ball because of the fasemask I believe. Thats what I'm thinking and it makes sense, but I got this little doubt in my head cause you never know. There is no way this is a TD though. Its probably half the distance from where the facemask occured. I believe an automatic first down.
jackie hayes
Whatever the outcome, dumb dumb dumb play by Jones. Gotta take care of that ball down there.

Chisoxfn
Our ball right around the 1 foot line. Time for a Thomas Jones TD

santo=dorf
I don't get it. Carolina just used a challenge early in the 4th just for a shot to keep the Bears from getting a touchdown and settling for a FG? EDIT: That was pointless. jackie hayes
Wait, they said half the distance from the spot of the foul -- is this right?
whitesoxfan101
It's half the distance from the spot of the fasemask foul (7 yard line) so 1st and goal at the 3 and a half. TOUCHDOWN JASON MCKIE!!!!
