SSH2005
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2294346 Veteran reliever Jeff Nelson has agreed to terms with the St. Louis Cardinals on a minor-league contract that will pay him $800,000 if he makes the big-league club out of spring training, a baseball source told ESPN.com. Incentives could push the deal to more than $1 million. Nelson, 39, is 48-44 with a 3.41 ERA in 792 career appearances with the New York Yankees, Seattle and Texas. He went 1-3, 3.93 in 49 games for the Mariners in 2005.
AddisonStSox
I've always liked Nelson. Signed to minor league contracts both this year and last. He's getting up there, but, should be able to contribute in some way.

If he gets back in form hes a fine replacement for Tavarez even though that spot probably would go to King or Calero
Punch and Judy Garland
Yeah as long as you use him on righties he is very good. No doubt about it. I think that their pen should be pretty good this year again. Looper and Rincon are two guys who I think might have struggled in many places but should be solid with Dave Duncan and TLR
Kyyle23
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) If he gets back in form hes a fine replacement for Tavarez even though that spot probably would go to King or Calero Umm, Kiko Calero was traded to the A's with Danny Haren last year for Mark Mulder. He hasnt been a Cardinal for a while.

Punch and Judy Garland
Yeah Flores is now in King's role as top lefty. Its Izzy-Flores-Looper-Rincon and then its Brad Thompson probably and then I'd imagine its between Nelson and Wainwright plus the other 30 guys that are always competing for that 11th spot on a staff int he spring
