Buehrle>Wood
I met a group that I was told met each other from the internet and meet once a year at Soxfest. I didn't say anything, but wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if it was some of you guys.
Rowand44
Just a great, great time for me this weekend. Lots of good stories and hopefully when Krush or snb decide to post it we got a good picture with a good story behind it. The Critic
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) When I went to Sox fest, I saw very, very few kids. Everyone in the autograph lines was an adult. That's creepy? I don't think so. Creepy? No. Geeky? Maybe. Of course, my nephew is there with my green St. Patrick's Day Sox hat for signatures, so color me geeky!!!
IlliniKrush
QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) soxfest = crazy, fun weekend. There will be plenty of inside jokes and stories to go around in the next few days. Skimming over the comments, I can understand the complaints. The lines were crazy, the whole thing was jam-packed. So if you were going just for the fest, I could see the dissapointment. For me, it was just a weekend to hang out with a ton of good friends and just have a blast, with soxfest as the backdrop. The lines, not that i waited in any besides the one to get in to soxfest on friday, were ridiculous. I don't care if people want to stand in line for autographs. The problem was, these lines would weave all over the rest of the basement floor, making it nearly impossible to navigate through the collectibles section and everything else down there. That part was very poorly organized. It was also way to crowded...way too many people in the basement and the Q&A was packed to the gills. The room just wasn't big enough. I can understand why people are b****ing. It's a much better experience if you go to get your baseball fix, drink some beer, and hang out with friends. POTUSChris
I got back a couple hours ago. I had fun. But the autograph lines winding all over the place on the lower level was pretty frustrating. And unfortunately for me, I kept have encounters with cranky people. I didn't make it into the opening ceremony either, but I didn't get there too early because of work, so I'm not going to complain. I spent most of my time in the seminar room though and I enjoyed that. It was a good weekend. And hopefully next year at the Palmer House, there will be more room for everything. chisoxfan14
Oh..Boy..Where do I begin! Saturday! Got in..and sadly..Scott's line was filled. Then we found out Joe's wristbands were gone! So we then decided we were going to get Brandon McCarthy and Chris Widger wristbands! So we did, then we went around to the other stages, and took pictures! Then got in line! So My sis stayed in line, and went exploring! yay! Shopped a little, then walked toward the 670 score booth, and there was a crowd of people, and flashes and such. i'm like ooo..what's happining! and ok..There's Joe Crede walking past me! HELLO JOE! lol! Got a great picture! Then got a pic of A.J. signing, and Jermaine signing! Talked to Gene Honda some! took a picture with him. He thinks i'm reeealllllyy weird! Then met my Chris Widger..and Brandon! and we were like in the 2nd row in line, and i started getting really really really excited, you know like i couldn't really breathe..and these guys that were in the row in front of us, were like 'Are you going to be ok?'...I'm like i think soooo! Oh..man..woo! that was good! chris is soo cute! love him! After that we sprinted over to Scotty's clinic! and watched that whole thing! That was amazing!.. And after that..I saw Ozzie Jr. standing over talkign to some people by the Bandits thing. And I went up to him, and I'm like Hey Jr. he's like hi...I'm like Do you have any idea where Ozney is!? He's like Ozney.my little brother! I'm like yeah! he's said no i haven't seen him, why do you think he's hot!? I'm like haha Yeah! He's like Oo So do I! it was funny! Then i followed him to see maybe he'd like go by Ozney or something. But he didnt' then I lost him. Then went over by Brian Anderson took a pic of him! Then saw Lovie Hung! aka Jon Garland's girlfriend! Took a pic of her! Saw Jennifer Konerko and little Nicholas! Then my friend got us up close by Paulie and got pictures of him! Then met Man Soo Lee..(for the 50th time)! And Then i think I left. After SoxFest, roamed the hotel! Went to Connie's! Ron Kittle came in and ate. That was cool! Then we roamed some more! and we're going up teh escalator but the big bar and who do we see coming down the escalator...Scott and Lisa! so we run up and back down the escalator and ran after him out the door! he signed soem autographs and got in the cab! but i got a good picture! and me and my sister were like Omg..i think we said it like 500 times! That was Scott Podsednik..... So that was the highlight of my night! Oh before that we were going up the escalator before, and Ozzie Jr, was coming down and he smiled at me FIRST and then i said Hey Jr. he said hey! so i kinda wanted to just stand on teh escalator the whole time! Later in teh night, I was standing next to Harold Baines in the elevator! that was pretty cool! Ok..Now it's Sunday! Alright so 1st thing we did..went to Brian Anderson's line! The guy next to us after a while, came back and said Scotty's supposed to be doing a score interview in a few minutes, i heard that, I ran! got a good pic of him, then ran back and told my sis, and she sprinted to him! cuz Scott's her fav so i let her see him! mm..that was good! Then met Brian, got his autograph! Yay he's adorable! Ok Sat and watched the Chris and Cliff seminar! that was funny! They made fun of cliff and how short he was, and that he hates being called Clifford! Then watched the Scotty and Joe one. That was hilarious! anyone there? That one question..Haha! Lisa after the homerun or Lisa on your honeymoon! oh, that was hilarious!! In the Chris one, I wanted to go up there, adn be like..my question is for chris..CAN I HAVE A HUG!? probably woulda got one too! I think Thatn's pretty much it.. Alrighty..So all my pictures are in here >>> http://www.picturetrail.com/chisoxwolves124 I took pictures with the players, but those are on the disposable one, so I have yet to get those developed! southsider2k5
We had a great time as usual. it was definately way more crowed than I have ever seen it, but it was a blast. We even got brave and took the baby up later on, and she got a picture taken with Southpaw, the righty. I got a pic done with both Brandon and Pauly. southsideirish71
The only person I ran into at Soxfest was Mike(SS2K5) and family in the Brandon McCarthy line. The place was jammed packed. My son didnt get to go because he was sick, so my brother-in-law came instead. He had a hi tech camera with a good zoom lenz. I will be posting the pics he had from soxfest once he emails them to me. Brian Anderson is a funny guy. He was making cracks with everyone. The Widgenator was cool also. Real laid back. BMac needs to eat some more. He was about as comfortable on stage as he was on the mound with 40,000 fans in the stadium. He is a well spoken, articulate kid. You can really tell he is a real student of the game. Heck I even learned something as his clinic

SSH2005
Jeez, I guess he was compared to Jack McDowell for a reason. His height to weight ratio is just as insane... Jack McDowell: 6'5", 180 pounds Brandon McCarthy: 6'7", 190 pounds
southsideirish71
I had one of Brandon's minor league cards. He flipped the thing a few times like he never saw it before. He asked me where did I get it, and then signed it for me.
Steff
They Hyatt sucks. Would have been way more enjoyable for people had they not over sold the event by 4000 tickets.... idiots.

Dick Allen
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) They Hyatt sucks. Would have been way more enjoyable for people had they not over sold the event by 4000 tickets.... idiots. The whole ticketing for Soxfest this year was different. They put the tickets up for sale to the general public before the season ticketholders got their $25 offers. I remember when they said it was sold out wondering if it meant I was out, but sure enough my order form was emailed, and with all the new accounts, unless they changed venues, it was going to be trouble. I am guessing the Palmer House, which by the way is a s***ty hotel, can handle a larger group, although I'm sure enough people were turned off by the huge crowds and are probably pissed they paid $100 a day on ebay, and have no plans to ever return. Gene Honda Civic
I think Keith, SnB, and Tony will agree. If I were ever to wear 6 inch platforms, and wear a #55 McCarthy jersey to the park, I wouldn't need a ticket to get into USCF. But I might end up on the mound that night. They Hyatt oversold the event plain and simple. They told the Sox their capasity.. and then they went over it. The Palmer House is smaller, and there will be less tickets avaliable. Intimate and controlled.
