f***.  This means Zambrano is wanting a long term deal with the Cubs.  Not good news.

Better with them versus an AL team we'd have to face several times a year. I absolutely hate seeing him on the mound against us. He's a nut.. but an effecitive one.

And Prior even moreso. We cannot hit him AT ALL.

Here is my prediction on this... Z and the Cubs already have a basic idea in mind for a long term deal.  They will announce a 4-5 year deal worth over $50-60 million at about 12 million per year before Z has his arbit hearing.

I don’t understand why anyone would want to sign a long-term deal with the Cubs. The team is not getting any better and the organization can’t put together a team that can be a threat come October.

He'll be looking for something very similar to the deal Garland got if he's smart. That only delays free agency a year.

Otherwise he'll want something like the Santana/Sheets got.

If I did the math right, I think that is pretty much where it would put him, with an extra big year tacked on at the end for something like $14 million.
