Steff
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 09:30 AM) f***. This means Zambrano is wanting a long term deal with the Cubs. Not good news. Better with them versus an AL team we'd have to face several times a year. I absolutely hate seeing him on the mound against us. He's a nut.. but an effecitive one. Kyyle23
Im really surprised that Boras let this one get away. Not his style.
Harry Chappas
If he likes Chicago enought and the Sox succeed and cubs falter could he gun to play for Ozzie. Imagine if Ozzie could reel in all Venezulean pitching????

southsider2k5
Here is my prediction on this... Z and the Cubs already have a basic idea in mind for a long term deal. They will announce a 4-5 year deal worth over $50-60 million at about 12 million per year before Z has his arbit hearing.

I don’t understand why anyone would want to sign a long-term deal with the Cubs. The team is not getting any better and the organization can’t put together a team that can be a threat come October. He'll be looking for something very similar to the deal Garland got if he's smart. That only delays free agency a year. Otherwise he'll want something like the Santana/Sheets got. If I did the math right, I think that is pretty much where it would put him, with an extra big year tacked on at the end for something like $14 million. Phuck the Cubs
I guess he has. Article on Cubs site today says the following: Zambrano is represented by South Florida-based agents Scott Shapiro and Barry Praver.
