Soxfest
No it won't. This kind of thing can't last all year...and it will not last all year. Saying this will last all year is stupid.....no offense. Don't know what the hell you are watching but it is not a major league hitting team. I agree with that. Talk to me in 2 months. You know in 2 months if this continues Sox are f***ed. Bmr31
If you stayed in to watch the Sox vs. Detroit instead of going out and doing something fun, maybe you too are in need of psychiactric help. Well hey a friend of mine stopped over with his buddy and i am meeting them at the club in a couple hours. I guess I am not saving money afterall, lol. Molto
this won't last all year. in both 2001 and 2002 we were terrible in the early going and played good as the season went on. didn't matter much as we didn't make the playoffs either year, but this won't last. I remember in 2001 how people thought the Sox would only win 75 games because of how they started, but finished with what... 84? I can't say it is early because it isn't, and although we are fortunate to be only 5 games out, we still have played bad. the GOOD thing is we are playing bad because of our offense first and foremost, which I think is one of the easier things to solve in baseball. improving an offense is a lot easier than improving a rotation, bullpen, defense, fundamental's and all that. so that is the one positive. this offense is just bad and needs an overhaul. we need defensive, fundamental, speed players on this team. until then, this offense will never do anything special outside of a few explosive games here and there (we can't even do that anymore). greg775
Jim, How can you say we are not a talented team? All the experts had us winning the division. We have good enough starting pitching, we were supposed to have an incredible bullpen and a reliable closer. And we were supposed to hit the s*** out of the ball. I think we are talented. Run, run, run, run, run! Always running from the truth! This team sucks. Just face reality and it wont hurt as much when theyre still here two months from now. Two months from now, it aint gonna bother me that were still under .500 because Im expecting such. Two months from now, everybody whos running from the truth thinking were still in the race is gonna jump of a building or something. We lost two straight to the Tigers. Who in their right mind thinks this team has any chance?

Who in their right mind thinks this team has any chance? In 2001, we were 20-30 after May. The offense had struggled (scoring only 215 runs, or approximately 4.3 a game) and the pitching had struggled as well(allowing 264 runs, or approximately 5.28 a game). We then turned it around and played .560 ball the rest of the year, going 63-49. Do the first two months of this year appear to look very much like the first two months of 2001? If I had to give you an answer....I'd probably say yes. I'd actually prefer to see what is going to happen in the next 4 months then to say that we'll suck because we're playing like s*** now. This team, right now, looks like s*** and they are playing like s***. If someone disagreed....they should be slapped. Then again....what happens today isn't necessarily going to happen tomorrow, let alone a month or two from now. You think this team will just go into the Cubs series with no heart whatsoever? Highly f***ing doubtful.

At this point, I'm f***ing nervous about the Crosstown serieses this year!!! The Cubs are playing some inspired ball, while our Sox can't seem to get their heads out of their asses. They better shape up quickly, or we're gonna lose this year's season series to the Cubs! And then I'll REALLY be pissed!!!

Molto
the crosstown series never has shown the better ball club. we've split with the cubs since it started yet we've clearly been the better team. good or bad, the series will be close again this year. as far as this season? it isn't over as anything can happen. we just need to get this offense going. they need to start forcing the action out there. for about a week this year they were doing hit and runs, stealing, bunting and doing all this stuff to put pressure on the opposing D. lately, they've done nothing. put pressure on the "D" and get this offense going and this team will win plenty. Actually, thanks to going 4-2 in 2001, we are two-up in interleague play against the Cubs. Just had to get the facts right.

Soxplosion
That we're quickly deteriorating? I sure notice it. And I hate that we ended up 83-79. Yeah we were in a big hole and I congratulate them for climbing out, but I cant stand people who settle for mediocrity! 83-79 is mediocre. It doesnt get you into the playoffs (because the playoffs are for the good teams, not the mediocre ones). Some people here say look at that team they climbed out of a huge hole and played decently. I say they shouldnt have been in the hole to start with and they only ended up mediocre. Mediocrity is unacceptable...
