Eddie Griffin's numbers looked better coming off the bench last season...

He has stepped it up a notch this year. I've seen like 6 or 7 Timberwolves games, and I have been thoroughly impressed with what I've seen. He wasn't this good last year. I suppose that I can't really make an argument for him on paper.

He must have stepped up a lot more on defense. It looks like he's blocking a lot more shots.

Of course, I'm talking strictly defense in Eddie's case.  He'd be even more effective if he was given upwards of 30 MPG at his natural postion of PF, but that ain't happening with Kevin Garnett in the picture.

His offensive statistics look incredibly bad on paper.  Good God.

And just think...

Tyson Chandler

24.5 MPG

4.6 PPG

7.40 RPG

1.11 BPG

Eddie Griffin

20.5 MPG

5.5 PPG

6.30 RPG

2.42 BPG

Speaking of the Timberwolves, I think Garnett is just going to explode there real soon. They've had 2 big losses in a row, and Kevin McHale's had about 5 to 6 years to build a good team around KG, and he hasn't done it.

As for Chandler, in the right situation I definitely think he can flourish. A team like Seattle, who need an upgrade at PF, and could offer Radmanovic and Reggie Evans, Houston and New Jersey would certainly have him. But he's going nowhere.

I'd rather have the real Ben Wallace next year.  He's a free agent after this season, right?

Ya, but with the season the Pistons are having there is no way they let him go. He'll get a near max or max contract though and I don't know if he's worth that to the Pistons. I'd still do it cause he's an integral part of the best team to play since the Bulls era.

On a side note I think Darco hits pretty soon (well at least as an RFA) and there is talk that they are gonna just let him walk.

Kevin Garnett is a monster defender/rebounder, and he weighs only 220 pounds.  Jermaine O'Neal is also an amazing defender/rebounder, and he weighs 242 pounds.  Those guys are both Top 10 defenders in this league out of the PF slot and they ain't working with much in the biceps department.  They're just slim giants with superior quickness, length, and aggressiveness.  You're muscles don't have to be bulging in order for you to contain PFs and alter a ton of shots when you're that tall and that quick.

Plus big guys like that don't necessarily look big. I have a buddy thats 6'10 and weighs a ton but you look at him and think he's scrawny. Its just cause its really hard to put mass on for some people when they are huge.

Oh and this is the only year Chandler hasn't been in shape when he started the year.

Heck look at Chris Bosh, he looks incredibly small but he's widely thought of as one of the best young 4's in the game.

He got his head on straight. Always was a heck of a talent.
