BridgeportHeather
lol, bmr!!! I hope he and the team don't get hurt by SARS this week in Toronto!!! And Carlos IS clutch...Not just because I like him, but it's a FACT. He's getting the big hits. Oh i suspect he is "getting" something else too......... Perhaps...But it's all him doing what he's doing...Gotta give him the props he deserves for continuously improving.

Up from a career avg of 23 HR and 85 RBI. I would call that an improvement. You can call his GS yesterday "lucky", but that's just further proof of your bias toward the man. How many big hits will Carlos have to get for us before you give the guy credit?

BrandoFan
I would call that an improvement. Not when he is coming of the 3 month-peformance (2nd half 2002) of near 1000 OPS. Not when he was annointed the Next Manny Ramirez. Not when he is looking for 7-8 Mill. in 2004 and beyond You can call his GS yesterday "lucky", but that's just further proof of your bias toward the man. Let's just say HSC is to Carlos what Steff is to Jimenez Of course neither of them can hate a player more than I can...See "Corey Petterson is Satan's Plague" for more details. How many big hits will Carlos have to get for us before you give the guy credit? 40 homer, 120 RBI, 80-walk would be a start. As far as GS goes, I am happy for Carlos. But the thing is, if you weight his RBIs against the RBI chances he had this season...lets' just say the raio doesn't come out favorably for Carlos. He shuold have 50 RBIs now considering how many RISP he's had, especially with less than 2 outs... Just because he is not as unbelievably bad as Koneko, Crede, Alomar, Valentin, Harris or Rios, doesn't mean he is good.

Guest hotsoxchick1
on his way and actually doing it are two different things.. when he reaches that then we can say hes improved.. but untill then hes still a dumbass.. and hell im not biased i actually got up and clapped my hands and cheered his granny yesterday.... i never did that much for clayton nor do i do anything like it for jimenez.... now thats biased...........if i dont like a player i dont support them.....period...........i have given dumbass many chances to prove hes out in that field for more than mere entertainment with his little tricks when he SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE f***ING GAME AT HAND............ BrandoFan
That is an improvement. Ok, I tried to be nice, but if you insist on being a stubborn dummy about it... His career OPS is app. 810. Right now he is at 777. The only reason why his RBIs are slightly higher than usual is because in 1999-2001, he was primarily a 7th place hitter; he's simply had more chances than ever to drive in runs this season out of 5th spot....As far as HRs go, they are the most meaningless stat in baseball. Like I said, considering he is no longer a 23yo, league-minimum making rookie, anything below 900 OPS and 110 RBI is unacceptable given that he is a lousy LF'er and can't run for s***. Keeping things in perspective much?
clujer420
Ok, I tried to be nice You tried to be nice? Where was I when this occured? His career OPS is app. 810. Right now he is at 777. Considering he started the season off HORRIBLY, it doesn't surprise me that his OPS is down. If you take a look at his numbers and exclude the first 2 weeks, I'd be surprised if his OPS didn't exceed .810. The only reason why his RBIs are slightly higher than usual is because 1999-2001, he was primarily a 7th place hitter; he's had a more chances than ever to trive in runs this season out of 5th spot....As far as HRs go, they are the most meaningless For the most part, he's not hitting 5th this year -- I don't know what games you've been watching. He's primarily hit out of the #6 spot (after Konerko). He's had 103 AB's in the #6 hole, compared to 53 in the #5 hole. And you are forgetting that this season, the TEAM OBP is down from what it was last year (in 2002 it was .338, and in 2003 it's .317). So, Carlos has NOT had more RBI opportunites than last season. If anything, they've been even -- because the guys ahead of him (Frank, Magglio, Paulie) are leaving a lot of guys on base. And how are HR's "meaningless"? I didn't think his GS yesterday was meaningless. Like I said, considering he is no longer a 23yo, league-minimum making rookie, anything below 900 OPS and 110 RBI is unaccetable given that he is a lousy LF'er and can't run for s***. Well, I agree that he should be at .900+ OPS. He's not walking NEARLY enough so far in '03 (10 walks vs. 34 strikeouts), and he's not going to right field enough. He's gotten pull-happy, and he needs to get away from that. Keeping things in perspective much? Not particularly.
Soxplosion
Hey youve got to remember at one point Caballo was like 1-25 with no RBIs. To be leading the team in RBIs and HRs is pretty darn impressive. I am definitely a Caballo supporter. Caballo, DJ (altho hes lazy sometimes), Bartolo, Marte and Frank all have my unending support. I remember how we all used to hate Bartolo when he was on the Indians and how we always made fun of him and CC for being so huge. Now hes like my favorite player...
