Teacher not disciplined

Recommended Posts

The Pennsylvania high school teacher who singled out a student for wearing a Denver Broncos jersey will not be disciplined by the district, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Beaver Falls High School ethnic relations teach John Kelly "has already been the brunt of adverse public opinion and the school district does not believe discipline is warranted or would serve any purpose," said a news release issued by the school district.

Joshua Vannoy, 17, stopped going to school after wearing the No. 7 jersey of retired Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway to class on Jan. 20 and Kelly forced him to take a test sitting on the floor and classmates then threw paper wads at him.

Two days later the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Broncos 34-17 in the AFC Championship game.

School officials looked into the allegations, but said the class is an elective for honor students, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

"As part of the course, students are often singled out to exemplify uncomfortable treatment and students who enroll in the course are aware of this fact," the district said in a statement.

"Face to face discussions and interaction among students and with the instructor sitting in a circle is a normal classroom setting for this course."

Vannoy returned to school this week and has the option to drop the class, the Post-Gazette reported. The district said Kelly had already asked students to show respect for their classmate and had apologized to Vannoy.

I'm sure that has everything to do with getting stuff thrown at you.

Good.  I think the kid was being a little b**** especially after I saw his picture.

^^

What the hell kind of kid gets up and sits on the floor in front of the class and then takes a barage of paper balls to the head? He sounds like a pussy to me, there's no way in hell I'd sit in front of the class to begin with which is something he should never have done.

Doesn't matter if they threw cotton, baseball, paper, or pickles at him. It is just not what someone of authority should be allowing. If i was in his class and he wore something i didn't like he better be ready for a book at his head.

The kid is only a pussy in my mind for taking it... not for telling. I would have told and try to have his job. He apparently did not pursue it to great lengths.

He's a pussy for even sitting on the floor in front of the class. Why would anyone take that sort of s*** from a teacher?

This guy in my PE who is a huge Cubs fan would go at it everyday with my teacher who is a Sox fan. During the collapse, one day, he wore an Indians cap. My teacher made him take it off. He's like, no, "I'll wear what I want. Sox fans are the biggest f***ing assholes I've ever met, and I really hope they blow the division." He got a Saturday detention for it :bang :bang

the kid was a moron...

that's like wearing a cubs shirt to a Sox game and not expecting s***...

After he said that, he's like, "I went to the Sox-Twins game to root for the Twins and I got pelted with trash."

Teacher: "Were you wearing Cubs gear?"

Student: "Yes, b/c it was the only clean shirt I had and I couldn't find my Bears hat. I was sitting next to a guy who was there to root for the Twins in Cardinals gear."
