Benchwarmerjim
all I got to say is that I support a bit of higher taxes to get an outdoor park
Rex Kickass
Outdoor would be great, especially if there was no retractable roof.
Baines3
I doubt if the Twins will leave after this season, they might give the city another year to get it done. If no stadium is deal is made by the end of the 2007 season then I think they will move on.
Kyyle23
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) Outdoor would be great, especially if there was no retractable roof. Outdoors with no retractable roof? There would be a lot of snowouts.

Kalapse
The plans for the new stadium have a retractable roof on field which would be necessary considering the location. It looks like an absolutely beautiful ballpark.
YASNY
QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) all I got to say is that I support a bit of higher taxes to get an outdoor park But the Twins can't control the windspeed and direction in an open air park. How in the hell do they hope to compete without that advantage?
GoodAsGould
If they had a park like Seattle that would be awesome.... one of my favorite parks in MLB...

Phuck the Cubs
The advantage the Twins will get is they'll get to keep all the money from parking and concessions. Right now at the Metrodome, they have to give most of the money they recieve from parking and concessions to the Vikings. YASNY
Looks damn good. The incorporated the skyline into the view from most of the ballpark. Not doing so is one huge mistake they made when the Cell was built.
Baines3
That looks like it will be one nice looking ball park, if it gets built.
southsider2k5
QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) Looks damn good. The incorporated the skyline into the view from most of the ballpark. Not doing so is one huge mistake they made when the Cell was built. this is my biggest complaint of all of them. The Cell would have been awesome sunk into the ground so you came in at the top of the 100 level, and somewhere in the south loop (which was dirt cheap in 1988) looking north at the impressive Chicago skyline. Phuck the Cubs
Did the Vikings allow this? They get the money the Twins make from parking and concessions. Will the Vikings still play there or are they getting a new stadium as well? And how will they be compensated for the lost money?
Benchwarmerjim
The Vikings are aiming for a new stadium up in Anoka (a northern subarb) they plan to move their headquarter to the new place too (right now its in Eden Prarie a western subarb) The Gophers, The Twins, and the Vikings are all looking at finicing for new stadium in the next legislative seesion which starts March 1st right now, I thin the Gophers are a shoe in to get their money (theyve raise a bunch of money for people are corporations, and sold the stadium naming rights for extra money. the stadium would be open air and on campus) I think the Twins are at 50-50 (from what I understand) and the Vikings are trailing that probably 45-55. I havent talking with my Representative lately about it so the deatils are a bit fuzzy *correction* the way the Twins stadium deal is set up is that there isnt state money involved, but a local option sales tax for Hennipin County (Minneapolis) would pay for it. The thing has been voted on (by the county comminssoners, but not a referendum) and needs State approval for the tax to go into effect. Which I guess is standard operating prodcedure. The hangup is that people are crying foul because there was no referendum. Edited February 10, 2006 by Benchwarmerjim

Phuck the Cubs
Where did you find that original photo of the roof? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Google images. Typed in "Metrodome Swastika" I used paint to outline it Some guy in my poli sci class was talking about it, something related to our current events discussion that day. I googled it, and I found it.
