GreatScott82
Did any of you guys see that interview on CSN with Widger? They asked him about all the pitchers, he said he was excited because they are still sooo young or at the prime of there careers. They then asked him about the new aquisition in Vazquez and he said that he caught for him in Montreal for 3 years. They have a solid chemistry when they work together. He said he brings you pure power! He finished it off by saying "I expect a big year out of him in 2006" For those of you who were upset with the departure of Colon, this guy has similar stuff. A power pitcher who can give you innings. Hmmm thats strange. When Vazquez left Montreal he began to struggle, could leaving Widger have anything to do with it?!? This just tells you how awesome Widger can call a game and valuable a small name can be on a championship team.
Steve9347
I'm sure that Javier Vazquez owes his entire career to Chris Widger... however, I'm sure that Widger can remember what he did pitch selection wise back in the day to get Vaz back on track. Good info...
YASNY
I wonder if Widger realizes how knowledgable Sox fans appreciate how much he contributed in '05. AJ's been getting a lot of the kudos, but Widger was a very important part of the team.

Jordan4life_2007
I'm waiting for Qwerty to attribute Vazquez's inconsistencies the last two years to not having Widger to catch for him.

For the heck of it, let's see how Javier fared in games where Chris Widger was the starting catcher. This, of course, is 'before he began to struggle'. I won't make anymore smart ass comments, but leave it to you to draw your own conclusions. Balta1701
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Good Widger should the personal catcher for Vazquez. Give Pierzynski a day off As long as the Widge doesn't catch Jose. For some reason he just never clicked with the Cubans all last year. The Widge also did a dandy job of catching MB last year. He was the catcher for that 1:43 game if I remember right.
