Anyone else going to stay up to watch the U.S. mens curling match live at 2 A.M.?

I'm planning on it. We'll see if my eyes stay open though, I'm rather tired :P

I love curling. Its one of the better olympic sports in my opinion.

Yea, I'm usually up around that hour too (although, 2 AM EST, not CST). Snow shoveling has worn me out today though, but if I can help it, I'll be up :)

Why do you have off

I have off of school because of snow, and off of work because of Lincoln's birthday :)

I have school tomorrow, too.

Apparently, we observed his birthday on Friday, as we had off.

I have next Monday off for Pesidents Day which is like Lincoln and someones BDay combined...or something...who knows

I'm a wuss, going to fall asleep any minute now. I'm recording the curling though, so I'll watch it sometime tomorrow morning when I wake up.

All 4 American competitors are in the snowboarding halfpipe final.

US will own the snowboarding events. Too bad Terje is older cause he's the best snowboarder ever...BY FAR too.

Alta, or however you pronounce it, is about the only foreign border that even stands a chance against these guys (rides flow though and he's about the only top pro that I know rides them).

f***in A.

The USA is laying an egg... at least we are going to get all 3 medlas in Snowboarding (even though its a gay sport) and Ohno is going to win all the Speed Skating medals.

Ya, its a gay sport alright. Why don't you try it cause I guarantee you couldn't come close to doing the stuff they do.

So how about instead of slamming a sport, you just STFU.

U.S. vs. Norway Curling match on now for anyone still up.

Edit: On USA

I turned it on cause...well nothing else is on. Can you explain this to me 99?? Obviously you want to get it somewhere in the target but how do the points work, how many shots(if that's what they're called) and is there are a certain amount of points that wins or is it just the amount of points after a certain amount of shots?

Sorry I'm not posting till now but I didn't have my computer on while I was watchng the match. I'm no expert at all but here are the basics. Basically each team gets 8 alternating shots per round. The objective is to be closest to the center of the target. For every stone that you get closest to the center of the target you get a point. So for instance, if the U.S. has two stones closer to the center of the target than any of the Norweigan stones they would get two points. There are 10 rounds (called ends) with 8 stones per end. The team with the highest total after the 10 ends wins the match. Obviously there is a lot of strategy in setting up shots to score multiple points each rounds and thats what is interesting about the game. One mistake and a team opens the door for the other to score big points.

Kildow Hospitalized After Downhill Crash

By BOB BAUM, AP Sports Writer

American gold medal contender Lindsey Kildow crashed on her downhill training run and was taken down the mountain on a stretcher Monday, moments after defending Olympic champion Carole Montillet-Carles was carried off.

The 21-year-old Kildow lost control midway through the run when her left ski slid out as she began to turn right around a gate on a flat stretch. She immediately went into an awkward split with her right knee buckling and slamming against the ground.

Her momentum carried her into the air for about 15 feet and she landed on her back, slammed her head and slid to a stop. Kildow was heaving with pain as medical personnel rushed to her aid, her legs splayed awkwardly.

At the bottom of the course, spectators and skiers who saw it on a large video screen gasped. Renate Goetschl of Austria grabbed her head and turned away.

Kildow was put on a toboggan taken by helicopter to a hospital in Turin, the games host city about 50 miles down the Alps, according to Pascale Vogeli, press manager for the downhill venue. The extent of her injuries was not immediately known, and two representatives of the U.S. Ski Team and the a spokesman for the U.S. Olympic Committee could not be reached for comment.

Kildow won two downhills on the World Cup this year and was ranked No. 2 on the circuit.

Her crash happened just eight skiers after Montillet-Carles of France lost control during a jump midway through her run and slammed into the protective fencing. She landed on her back and her head hit the snow.

Montillet-Carles, 32, appeared to be conscious, though no further details of her condition were immediately available.

Later in the afternoon a third racer, Allison Forsyth of Canada, crashed and also had to be taken off on a toboggan.

American medal hopeful Julia Mancuso, who waited near the start box as the next skier scheduled after Kildow, said the course was similar to the first training runs on Sunday.

"There's just a lot of rolls, anything can happen," Mancuso said. "You can come off a jump, catch an edge and be a little unlucky."

Anyone else watch any of the womens hockey over the weekend? My observations...

Canada is really good, but they are in the worst pool ever. They are going to pay for it when they start playing in the medal round games.

The USA is solid, and has an incredible power play. They move the puck so well, and get great shots.

I couldn't believe for a country with so many great male hockey players, that Russia was as bad as they were. They were almost as bad as Italy, who only made it in because they're the host country.
