MurcieOne
From Mike Hobson, director of media for the Birmingham Barons...... The Birmingham Barons announced today that their parent club, the Chicago White Sox, and scout Warren Hughes will hold a tryout camp at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium on Tuesday, June 17th. The camp is open for players ages 15-23. It begins at 9:00 a.m. and registration starts at 8:15 a.m. The length of the camp will depend on the number of players participating, but players should allow for a minimum of four hours. Participants need to bring their own equipment, i.e. glove, shoes, catcher's gear, and bat (although bats will be available to participants that don't have one). Players will be timed in the 60-yard dash and be evaluated in hitting, fielding, and pitching. Participants under 21 years of age need written permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate. Also, American Legion players need written permission from their coach to attend if their legion season is not finished. Players drafted in the 2002 Free Agent Draft by any team other than the Chicago White Sox are not permitted to participate.
