SSH2005
Looking at the winter reconstructions http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5317240 Best reconstructions White Sox: Kudos to GM Ken Williams for refusing to stand pat after the franchise's first World Series victory since 1917. The White Sox accomplished their biggest priority, re-signing first baseman Paul Konerko, while upgrading at DH with Jim Thome, acquiring super utility-man Rob Mackowiak and adding yet another quality starting pitcher, right-hander Javier Vazquez. Worst reconstructions Twins: Only in the frugal mind of owner Carl Pohlad would their off-season qualify as a success. The trade for second baseman Luis Castillo was a winner, but the only other additions to the league's worst offense were free-agent third baseman Tony Bautista — he of the .298 career on-base percentage — oft-injured Rondell White and 40-year-old Ruben Sierra. Perhaps Twins G.M. Terry Ryan should have been more creative trading prospects, but he needs protect his low-priced talent. The Twins need young players like Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau to produce — now.
AngelasDaddy0427
I feel the Indians should of been on this list... They lost a good portion of the pitching that made them contenders last year and replaced them with far inferior players... Not exactly a key to success... Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) Your going too far. Byrd to Millwood is not that big of a difference, and J.Johnson to Scott Elarton is a wash IMO. Crisp is a better player than Micheals, not huge, but Crisp does have the upper hand, but they might have a GREAT 3b of the future on there hands. There bullpen is in question, but so is ours. I disagree with Byrd and Millwood not being a big difference. You have to be pretty good to maintain an era below 3 in the al for an entire year. Millwood was a legit #1 last year. Bryd is at best a #4.
DBAHO
I don't think Byrd can continue the form he showed with the Angels last season but that's just me. But Shapiro's going with a little short-term pain for some long - term gain. They lost Rhodes as well who was pretty good out of the pen for em. Why is our bullpen in question? Because we've only one lefty and we're minus our resident headcase?
qwerty
QUOTE(Drew @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 05:06 AM) Why is our bullpen in question? Because we've only one lefty and we're minus our resident headcase? Politte with far and away his best year of his career last year. Can he keep it up? He looked much different in the second half from the first ( still damn good). Jenks has not shown he can get righties out at a good clip... killed lefties in his time up though. Problem is 80% of the time he will be facing right handers... needs to improve in that area. Hermanson and his back problems... i expect him to be limited next season. Cotts is the safest best to me. He skipped triple a so i consider his 2004 season his triple a/feeler for the majors. Last year is what i expect him to do... maybe slightly worse. I think he would be the best closer on the team ever given the chance... and i think he will close at some point in his career. Mccarthy is a nice inning eater/swing man. Personally i think we will see him pitch alot more than the average '' mop up'' pitcher. Lastly we will have some scrub who we will have to hope ends up being better than kevin walker. The bullpen is still strong but i think we might see some regression from last year.

For the Indians, they actually have to replace key guys in their pen. I'd rather have our problem than theres.
